. Proposal two consists of a happy hour/mixer for nontraditional students. This idea came from both Alex and I. Alex had mentioned how nice that would have been when she first stated at Towson. After further discussion about the idea and further research showing that Towson does not offer many events for students to get to know one another, we figured this could be a great idea. We also talked about how the students could be a plus 1, especially if it is a spouse. We have talked multiple times in the group about how this can be a big event for a married couple, parent or family in general. The plus 1 idea could show the nontraditional students plus 1 their campus, plans at school and all Towson can offer them.…

One of the most inspiring stories to me is the story of Malala Youafzai. Similar in age, she is known around the world and is an icon for “courage and hope”. She’s brought to my attention the struggle for some to receive an education and its importance. I recognize that education is not something I should take for granted and therefore strive to do my best in my classes, and look for opportunities to learn in environments with students of similar interests and different backgrounds. Last summer my opportunities included, Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp (Blue Lake, MI), Region 3 USMCJROTC Cadet Leadership Course (St. Johns, WI), and George N. Parks Drum Major Academy (North Central College Naperville, IL.) This…
I must first remind you of the unrest among our fellow students before I begin to examine the pandemonium we currently suffice as home. Our generation is at war with the complicated reality of this stringent society and we must no longer allow mainstream practices to dictate our freedom. The time is now for us to shed the constraints of our parents’ generation and provide a change that will bring authenticity to America’s youth! We standup not just for ourselves but for those of tomorrow and to change the norms of today.…
We Day is an annual "youth empowerment" event organized by the Free the Children charity. Held in cities across Canada and the United States, We Day motivates youth to take action on local and global issues. Since 2007, thousands of Canadian students have attended We Day events, which feature speeches and performance from global leaders, social activists and public figures.I think that my attendance at WE Day 2014 will have a positive impact on our school this year because I believe that if I go, I will be able to take information and bring it back to the school and try to make a change, locally and even globally. I believe that this is a huge opportunity. This conference is very beneficial because it is a student-lead conference. It allowed us, students to use our voice and speak up. At the video we watched, I realized how important it is to use your voice in a positive way to help people. You don’t only need to use your voice; you can get your message out in any way, media, arts or verbally. I learned that student voice is important because, we are the ones who are the future to making our world a better place.…
In America, tuition is what people pay to a college or a university. Students do not attend tuition but “afterschool activities”, that are organized program which invites youth to participate outside of the traditional school hours (Mahoney, Parente, and Zigler, 2009). These afterschool activities can enhance…
I would describe our first session was a lax since, it is considered a preliminary of a full pack summer class, however, just like a branch of a tree that has a lot offshoots, it promises a lot of learnings. As our professor puts it, it is very interesting subject and indeed it was, it is and it will be. I learned, that majority of our educational thrusts are governed by Article XIV of the Philippine Constitution which states that “The state shall encourage nonformal, informal and indigenous education learning system, as well as self-learning independent and out –of school study programs particularly those that respond to community needs”. It is in this statement that assures that Philippine education is characterized by equity and accessibility. The tangible proof of this was the establishment of Non Formal Education then now it’s ALS, which is parallel learning viable alternative to the existing formal education instructions. This means that states and the department specifically recognizes the pressing demands of educating Filipinos so that the will become a functional citizen of this country.…

Education in Basilan State College is now experiencing a period great change, and problematic situations that can spur creative and innovative effects towards educational experiences. For our NSTP class this term, we were to implement two projects for our adopted community in Brgy. Sun Valley, Paranaque City. The two projects we implemented were CANDLE MAKING WITH MARKETING SEMINAR & LIFE SKILLS SEMINAR. I was part of the Candle Making with Marketing Seminar group. In our group, we divided the jobs to those in charge of the candle making itself and some were in charge of the marketing seminar. My task was to know the different materials needed for the candling making and the different techniques we could teach the community. The candle making was allotted for two meetings, and one meeting for the marketing seminar. As soon as our three meetings were done, it was time for the Life Skills Seminar to do their part. Since it was not our group or we didn't have any tasks to be done, we were asked to be the audience and participants of the different activites held. We had three seminars from the Life Skills group, namely: Stress Management Seminar, Financial Seminar, and Communications Seminar. I can say that we have learned a lot from those three seminars, as well as the host families.…
Seminars and field trips is one of the interesting facts that students are excited about when in college. In some ways it is exciting and some feel a little unease because you need to shell out some more money which in some is not included in their tight budgets. We speak on behalf of the students who wanted to ensure that what we paid for will be worth to spend.…
