A Modest Proposal: My Trip To School
INTRODUCTION

CURRENT SITUATION
One building in my town has always caught my eye while I was walking to school for the past years. I was impressed by the Renaissance view of the building and over-the-top details. Most importantly, I felt in love with the traditional overview of the construction and its unique style. Needless to say, now this building is facing demolition and complete destruction.
RECOMMENDATIONS

The late 1600s and early 1700s in particular were a difficult time for Ireland. Catholics made up most of the Irish poor who constituted 80 percent of the population and owned less than one-third of the land. As the Protestant English landowners took over in the 1700s, the Irish Catholics dove deeper into lives of famine and poverty. In “A Modest Proposal”, Jonathan Swift presents several claims and supporting evidence that the consuming of the Irish nation’s growing number of children will solve the poverty epidemic as well as decrease religious enemies.…

The art of procrastination has troubled high school kids for quite some time now. Im sitting here typing my own essay at the eleventh hour, hoping that as the deadline approaches I can piece together an essay to save my grade. “Procrastination is for the efficient at heart”, this quote captures the procrastinators only strength: the ability to make the most out of the time they have. Most students will crack as the pressure of meeting the deadline with quality work overbears them, as they regretfully wish they spent their time wiser. Few will rise up to the challenge and meet the standards, but what separates the students who succeed and those who miserably fail?…

One of Jonathon Swift’s most famous works, “A Modest Proposal” needs to be read after the reader gets a little familiar with Swift himself and why he wrote it. Once you realize the situation and the author’s unique writing ability and thought process the proposal seems a little less farfetched and less sickening. I am in no way in agreement with the proposal just more understanding of where it came from and why he did it. The meaning of the proposal takes a major hit when the situation at hand takes a twist from Swift’s personal situation.…

During my freshman year of high school I received a letter in the mail. This letter was an invitation to play basketball in Australia, with other boys and girls of my age. The date was September 13, 2011. The letter stated that we would be leaving June 1, of 2012. Of course I wanted to go as soon as I read the letter, but my family was more curious about the trip. We did some research and figured out everything that would be offered on this trip. In my research I read of playing Australian basketball games, snorkeling, swimming in the ocean, surfing, and spending three days on Tangalooma Island. This was enough to convince my family that it would indeed be a fun trip for me to attend.…

Before I went to City College,I made the most important decision of my life. I decided to go to a university, but I didn’t know which university should I go? I still remember when I was a high school student my college counselor told me “Ensure that the school is a perfect match for you.” At that time I wasn’t sure where should I go. Although I felt like I was not ready for university I still had to make a choice. I submitted my application to SF State University without any hesitation. After I submitted the application, I thought about this every day. It was a little impulsive, but I already did it. I always felt I am not good enough and afraid of college. Before the orientation day I watched TV all night and I slept at the morning. I completely…

After leaving my high school life behind me, I looked for a way to escape my dreary surroundings. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and even if I had, I had no plan to achieve them. I spent my last year trying to enjoy my time and desiring that other people invited me to be in their company that I had no plan for when that last school bell rang. When it finally rang out, I was again lost. The only difference was that I no longer had classes. Going to Rock Valley rectified that. Like other kids going to a community college, I had no direction in my classes and was without an idea about what a degree would get me.…

It was the middle of the school year, and I had just moved into Duluth. I was begging my mother to put me back into public school. At the time I was being home-schooled but I hated it. So one day, my mom told me "since you want to go to public school so bad, I'll let you go soon." I was happy! I could finally make some new friends and go somewhere I wanted to go. Few days later, we went into the school I will be attending called Northview High School. We went to go get interviewed, but the lady that interviewed us was very rude. She was not hopeful or even encouraging. She told me and my mom that I was going to fail all my courses and will have to wait til the end of the school year. Basically, she wanted to hold me back. Who would have known how right she was. In the end, it worked out and I was able to attend Northview.…
