A Career As A Forensic Science Technician
A forensic science technician is an occupation that many people have not heard of. Most people think of it as what is seen on the television show CSI, but there is a lot more to the job than what it pictures. A forensic scientist collects data from a crime scene and takes it back to the lab to fit the missing pieces together. This is a very important job as a forensic scientist also helps with deciding if someone is guilty or not in an investigation. Throughout this paper I will be discussing what an actual forensic scientist does in the real world, the education that it takes, the working conditions, the earnings, and lastly the job outlook for this occupation. Classes in law and communication would also be very helpful for someone looking into this career (“Forensic Scientist Careers”). Once out of high school, the smart thing to do is enroll in a 4 year college program in forensic science (“Admin”). The minimum degree for this occupation is a bachelor's degree in forensic science or natural science. Some labs do require a master's degree for a more advanced promotion. There is approximately 30 colleges and universities across the United States to offer a bachelor's degree in forensic sciences (“Forensic Science Technician Science”). A college student would want to take the college courses in chemistry, biology, microbiology, physics, natural science and forensic science (“Forensic Scientist Careers”). The next step to advance a career is to start on the job training (“Home”). Employers train new soon to be a forensic scientist. They are sent to workshops to learn how to analysis. Whenever they have completed the workshops, if they want to further their education they can continue to go to workshops. By assisting experienced workers, one would get the experience in the field and laboratory needed.
