4.0 Research Paper
During my freshman year of highschool, I was determined to keep my grades high and obtain a 4.0. As the first semester of 9th grade ended, I possessed all A’s and performed well on my finals. Then, as semester two quickly came to an end, I ended up with all A’s except for one class: World History. Finals came around and my grade became low in that class and my chances of getting the 4.0 I dreamed of became slim. I needed to receive higher than a 96 percent on my final to get an A in the class, which seemed almost impossible. I thought to myself that I need to study really hard for this final if I want to start off highschool with all A’s. Also, I prayed very hard and kept faith that I would be able to accomplish this challenge. Therefore, I studied every little detail from every notes, homework, and worksheets that I had received all semester. In …show more content…
These people dreamed of going here ever since they were little. Some call this place the happiest place on earth, while some call it the most magical place on earth. At age 22, Walt got fired from his newspaper job for not being “creative enough”. He also possessed a business that went bankrupt and people told him that the idea of Mickey Mouse would never work because it would terrify people. Despite these failures, Walt Disney never quit his dreams of cartoon animations and ended up very successful. Walt Disney created this place even though people told him that he would not be capable of doing so. Disney easily could have given up and turn away from his dreams because other people told him horrible things. However, Walt kept faith in himself and that motivated him to achieve the many things that he did. Even his famous quotes demonstrated how he valued hard work: “If you can dream it, you can do it”, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them”. This shows that even he valued hard work as important in

Walt Disney was not just someone who drew cartoons for a section of a newspaper; he changed the American culture with his creativity and ideas. Walt Disney is a man who changed the way people entertain themselves. Because he inspired so many people, they strive to become who they want to be so that they can be successful, like him. I chose Walt Disney for my project because he has had a major effect on my life through his movies, cartoons, and theme parks. When I saw “Steamboat Willie” starring Mickey Mouse, I thought that it was very interesting because that was one of Disney’s very first films and that is where his career began with Mickey. Walt Disney once said, “It all started with a mouse,” but if you ask me, it did not start off with…

When I began my senior year of high school, I was tired and unmotivated and chose to give up and not put my full effort into all my school work. I was so excited, my last year of high school. I was always told since I was a freshman that your junior year would be the hardest and the most important because those are the grades that colleges will mostly be looking at and that your senior year would be the easiest because you're mostly taking electives and you only need to focus on you main courses such as economics and english to graduate. When I started school this year I put off all my homework till last minute, I was absent more than usual, my work was sloppy, and I wasn't really participating. I kept thinking that all I need is a 65 in…

As I disappointingly see my grades on canvas I tell myself that once I get home from school I will finish my homework and papers almost due before work today. I have four quizzes and two excel worksheets to work complete. I have three hours and a half to finish these before midnight. As I’m done with my first quiz I decided to take a little break so I take a glimpse at my phone and decide to watch just an episode of “Vampire Diaries” and next time I know its 5 o’clock and I’ve watched four episodes of the show. I just wasted all the time I had to finish my homework and now I have to finish it after work which I get out at 9:30 pm. There was no way I would finish on time with good scores.…

I have also retaken 1 of the 2 classes that was hurting my GPA, the first class is Math and so far I’m doing great in it and I am dedicated to get a B in that .The second class I am currently taking is my English Class and I am averaging an B in the class with only 2 papers left, which is a big improvement from the original grade of an…

At this point I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life after college and I didn’t even know what college I wanted to go to. I did not like the feeling of not knowing what I wanted to do as a career. It would eat at me, so I decided to just hide it away deep down until it would find its way out eventually with the right answer a year and a half later. My classes were consisting of required courses that I had no care for. Back when I was a sophomore, we were required to take chemistry in order to complete high school. My chemistry teacher was the worst. He did not care about my assignments enough to actually take his time and read through them and give me an accurate score on my assignments and tests. No matter how hard or little I tried, he would always give me a score of a D or C, Teachers like him are what cause the students to have this thought of, “No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to better myself, I am worthless in their eyes.”. That’s the message I received when I was handed a sixty percent for my semester grade in that class. That teacher didn’t care about me, he didn’t want to waste his precious time on me. Teachers like him are like the diseases in the education…

Everyone wants good grades throughout their years in school, mainly in high school. I am more of a math and science person, other subjects like history and government. Topics like politics, the constitution, the United States Government, political parties and anything else having to do with Government class I had no interest in when I signed up for classes. I know this is something that I should be keeping up to date on because of the upcoming election and everything that changes with the government. The spring of my sophomore year I was looking for different classes to take, I saw AP Government. I thought I could do well in that class, I was motivated to learn something new and excel at something I was not very interested in. The first day of junior year came quickly. Then the first AP government test came even quicker. I studied the night before for hours thinking positive thoughts and finding funny ways to remember different answers. Going into the test I thought I was ready, but when I saw the test I froze. Thinking different thoughts like “When did we learn this?” or “Why did I take this class?”. I pushed all the negative thoughts to the side and completed the test to the best of my ability. The day we got our test back I looked down and about cried. I had never done that bad on a test.…

It was in my third semester of nursing school where I hit a major roadblock. I was taking a required class called Complex Health Alterations (CHA), this class in particular spanned two full semesters and was taken in two parts; my roadblock came at the end of the second semester. This class was challenging for me and I had to put a great deal of time and effort into preparing for exams, I found myself either doing moderately well or sometimes not too well. At the end of the semester when final grades came out I was .02 percent below the passing grade to move on to the final semester of the program. I was devastated, but pragmatic enough in knowing that I didn’t pass, remembering what my dad had always told me, “move on, it is over and in the past, you need to look forward, what is done is done”. I genuinely planned on moving forward but had heard from fellow students that the one of the other students that had technically “failed” the course was being allowed to move on because she had only received .01 percent below the passing grade; this had stopped me dead in my tracks. I contemplated how I was going to handle this, should I step up and say something? Should I keep my mouth shut and retake the…

I set a goal for myself, which was to improve my overall GPA each quarter. Slowly, but surely, I was getting better grades and boosting my GPA. Junior year was my best year academically. I set more academic goals for myself. I stayed on top of my work and in the end it paid off because I was able to exceed my goal. My GPA has increased vastly since the start of freshman year, but I silently thought to myself: “If I’ve made it this far academically, why not end high school with an even greater GPA?” I know I have the potential to increase my cumulative GPA to a 3.5, and I am currently striving to achieve this goal with high hopes. I learned very valuable lessons throughout my journey of high school. Not all mistakes made are necessarily bad. Many life lessons come from the mistakes we make. If you fall, get back up on your feet and go the extra mile because it will help you in the end to get to where you want to go. I now know why my parents and teachers instilled in me the concept of learning from your own mistakes. My mistake was taking freshman year lightly. Although it is too late to go back and redo the start of freshman year, all I can do is continue to put time and effort into my school work. I intend to focus on a smooth transition from high school into college, setting analogous goals for myself.…

One of my more enriching experiences occurred during my freshman year of high school. For years, I strove for straight A's, and for years I received them. Over time I constructed a mentality, and underlying self-confidence that I would receive an A no matter what. Due to my over-confidence, I was under the impression that I would not have to put forth much effort; however, near the conclusion of the second semester, I had a B in Pre-AP English 9. Despite my last push to earn a 90% in the class with the concluding assignments of the semester, my grade was finalized lower than I had wished for. It felt as if a five pound ball of lead materialized in the pit of my stomach. This experience, at first, devastated me to the fullest extent, and I…

Ever since I was in elementary school, I have mostly gotten A’s. Now that I am in high school, people expect me to continue getting A’s. Throughout my years of education, I barely studied. The only time I would study was when I had a heavily weighted test. Now I realized that not studying is negatively affecting my grades. The goal I would like to achieve is to raise my biology grade from a C+ to an A- by the end of the second quarter. I will raise my grade by turning in my assignments, studying my unit sheets and notes before assessments, and coming in for eagle time once every two weeks. One reason why accomplishing this goal is important to me is because if I pass this quarter with an A-, then my semester grade will end up as an A-. Another…

When we think Disneyland, we think the happiest place on earth. For those who think this is an exaggeration, let me shed some light on why this place is magical for me. Disneyland to me means family traditions with a heart full of happiness and love. When you first enter Disneyland, you are overcome with a vast amount of emotions. I get a nervous feeling deep inside my gut. The excitement overwhelms me, knowing that in just a few small steps, I will see the castle at the end of Main Street. The smell of churros are in the air. The crowds are filled with children and parents. You can hear children’s laughter and excitement. And if you look closely, you can see Mickey and friends in the corner signing autographs and taking pictures. I close my…
