Growth and Development is the increasein size of the body – in height, weight and other measurable areas. it is the gaining of skills in all aspects of the child’s life.

Physical development: this refers to the gradual gain of control over the body muscles and physical coordination in skill and Performance which includes:gross motor development (using large muscles), for example legs and arms fine motor development (precise use of muscles), for example hands and fingers.

Intellectual development: this is a king of growth where the brain becomes more and more capable of understanding, analysing and evaluating concepts to make sense out of the world around them through learning skills of understanding, memory and concentration.

Language and Communication development: this is learning to communicate with friends, family and all others which occurs through the gradual acquiring of words and its meaning.

Emotional development: this refers to a child's increasing awareness and control of their feelings and how they react to these feelings in a given situation. Emotional development starts at an early age as soon as children start nursery and pre-school, their interaction with others help develop them in both social and intellectual ways.

Social develpoment: this is the development of a child’s identity and self-image, the development of relationships and about him or herself and learning the skills to live in society with other people.

Spiritual development (moral development): this is an important part of social development where children observe other children and adults behaviour, gradually developing a sense of right and wrong. Reinforcement is important in moral development where certain behaviours are promoted as being right or wrong. An advanced stage of a child’s moral development is when he or she iscapable of pro-social behaviour.
