Brett

 Rough, bold, strong, tall, angry, agressive, negative, bald, thinks world is against him
 Lives with mum but dad has given up on him, stole smokes and beer, ran away from Farm, been to court a lot
 "As if", "Whatever", "Who cares?", "pigs"
 Gets into fights with Tyson, Josh, Smiling Joe and Caitlyn's dad, is bullied by Tyson, becomes friends with Josh
 Others say he is sneaky, he's got an attitude problem, he's a pretty boy
 Brett is the main characters, at the start he is the bad guy, however, by the end he is friends with people and has changed

How does Brett change throughout the novel? Describe what he is like at the beginning and then at the end, identifying 5 events/situations that lead to this change.

 Kind, runs The Farm, gives people second chances, good reputation, friendly, moustache,
 “Keep on trying”, “I wouldn’t be calling Brett a no hoper”, “only you can change your life”
 Helps troubled people, stops Brett and Tyson fighting, ensures people on The Farm follow his rules, teaches boys how to ride the horses and how to lead a good life, keeps boys out of trouble

Tyson
 Pacific Islander, shaved head, mean, strong, bully, makes trouble
 Been to many juvenile detention centres (assault, car theft), criminal record, bullies people and picks fights
 “Pretty boy”, “I’m going to kill you”, “The only person that owns anything in this place is me”
 Others don’t like him and thinks he’ll do anything to get his own way,
 Bullies Brett (eg. urinates in Brett’s food, threatens to kill him, shaves his hair, steals Brett’s mum’s letter), tries to turn everyone against Brett
 Pushes Brett over the edge, allows Brett to show his bad side AND good side, to put some action into the novel.
