Topic background: What changes in organisations?
Navigating through difficult or changing circumstances often requires managers to lead and foster new and better ways of doing things. Innovative organisations endeavour to find successful ways of managing change so as to keep the competitive advantage in today’s modern business environment (Schermerhorn et al. 2011). Assessment task:

1. Required reading: Chapter 3 - Why organisations change? IN Managing Organizational Change: a multiple perspectives approach (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin 2009).
2. Students are to answer two (2) questions which appear below 3. Each answer must be at least 750 words each in a short essay format. Each question is to be answered on a separate page.
4. Each response must have a minimum of 3 references, one must be from chapter 3 and the other two may be from any other scholarly source (that is: textbooks or journal articles)
5. Students are advised to consult the HRMT19020 LibGuide for further guidance on completing this assessment.

Assessment task questions:
1. Identify and briefly explain the six (6) types of environmental pressures that today’s managers are confronted with? (10%)
2. Identify and briefly explain the five potential forces that are internal to organisations (10%)
Students must have a minimum of three (3) references for each answer. Students must use correct CQUniversity Harvard referencing.
