Never has it transpired in my cognizance how eloquent sound can be and the amazing things it can accomplish. Basically, sound isn’t all about hearing it with the ears and escalating its invisible effects. In the two topics we have witnessed, sound is much more appreciated. Can sound really break a glass? As what I’ve seen in the opera or in the movies, they say it can. I was at first doubtful of the fact that sound can be really used to break glasses. For me it was fictional. In the episode of the Mythbusters, they were ought to attest that sound can certainly break a wineglass. They have proposed diverse approaches on the how-to’s and what-if’s. I might have been victorious on my theory that it is fictional un-equating that to what I’ve seen in the movies. The crew then had its first set up they have organized an amplifier through a microphone input and an amplified sound output through a speaker fronting the most imperative subject, the lab rat – wine glass that is. The hired rock star sounded its first key through the microphone to the amplifier and to the speaker, and as it changes its tone to fit the right breaking pitch for the glass, nothing happened. The glass merely vibrated but it didn’t shatter; until one of the crew suggested to make a small opening for the sound to be concentrated on the glass. Voila! The glass vibrated and shattered! And to my shock, I can’t help but just open my mouth to the amusement. “It’s still different because it’s amplified and humans alone can’t produce that kind of vibrations.” They have to raise the bar to the next level. “Let the human voice alone splinter the wineglass”. So they have tried. And same principle follows. After trials and trials, I may have been successful of my theory that it’s fictional until

Detonations inside the calliope (and steam whistle), as well as the pyrophone might thus be considered as class 42 instruments, despite the fact that the "wind" or "air" may be steam or an air-fuel mixture.…

This lesson has helped me understand the 4th and 5th grade content standards by showing me how to incorrupt whole group science experiments. I already know the important of students learning and applying science concepts through experiments but sometimes school budgets and materials do not allow this to happen. This whole group sound experiment could easily be done by borrowing the machine that measures sound waves from the Jr high or High school. Learning about sound vibrations and waves did not need to be done just through worksheets.…

Paul Hubbert, founder of the Institute for Holographic Sound and Inner Balance tells us, “Through the use of sound healing and/or balancing, we can shift the vibration of the diseased or disharmonious area to bring it back into harmony, essentially to heal or balance it. There is nothing magic about this. It’s no different than having a car with water in the gas; it runs really bad, if at all. When you change the energy source, shift its vibration, to premium fuel, it will then begin to run at an optimum performance level. Of course with the car, you may also need to do a little cleaning or clearing out, just as you do with the human body and emotions.”…

Given the current ubiquity of personal media players — the iPod appeared almost a decade ago — many researchers attribute this widespread hearing loss to exposure to sound played loudly and regularly through headphones. (Earbuds, in particular, don’t cancel as much noise from outside as do headphones that rest on or around the ear, so earbud users typically listen at higher volume to drown out interference.) Indeed, the August report reinforces the findings of a 2008 European study of people who habitually blast MP3 players, including iPods and smartphones. According to that report, headphone users who listen to music at high volumes for more than an hour a day risk permanent hearing loss after five years.…

Before 1877 sound could be recorded but not played. That year Thomas Alva Edison invented the talking tin foil, also known as the phonograph (voice – writer), which enabled sound to be played back (the first speech to be recorded and played back was the poem by Sarah Josepha Hale (1830) ‘Mary had a little lamb’, which, unfortunately “was not preserved, but in 1927, Edison re-enacted the recording for Fox Movietone news. It can be heard on the Recording Technology History web site at http://history.sandiego.edu/gen/recording/mary.html” (John Cosway 2008 - Livin Publishing’s webpage)). But it had a problem when the tin foil was removed from the machine it would loose its shape making it impossible for sound to be played back again. Along the years technology improved a lot, especially after the First World War.…
