A state’s ability to legislate without legal limitation saves as set by themselves and the reach of international law. The distinguishing feature of state is sovereignty legal autonomy. No higher body has the RIGHT to issue order to them. The concept of sovereignty means that nobody has the right to tell you what to do – the right to say yes or no. Liberal international states that, through multilateral organizations such as the United Nations, it is possible to avoid the worst excesses of “power politics” in relations between nations. (If one country invades another it affects all of us - We are all involved). In other words; cooperation’s between nations.

Realists think that humankind is not inherently benevolent but rather self-centered and competitive.
