A slight breeze blew as Doug stood staring down at Joey.
“Hello, Joey,” said Doug.
Silence surrounding the two of them.
“Joey, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. I didn’t. And, Joey-Merry Christmas.”
Doug placed a rose on Joey’s tombstone and walked away.
“Can you ever forgive me,” he asked, “for driving home drunk?”
A year ago…
Doug is a young and wealthy man, who supports many charities. He lives in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America alone with his father and has only one best friend Sara. One night, Doug goes to a school charity event organized by his friend Sara at her school. In the event, Doug meets one of the school’s teacher named Jennifer and falls in love with her immediately. He helps her wherever he can, only to be near her. Doug believes that Jennifer feels the same for him. At the end of the event Doug tells her about his feelings, and away she tells him about her fiancé Joey.
"My fiancé Joey is coming to pick me up and we are soon to get married," said Jennifer to Doug without letting him say anything else.
After a moment between Jennifer and Doug, Joey comes in to pick Jennifer up and she leaves with Joey leaving Doug shocked by her answer. As she was leaving Doug was trying to recognize Joey. Noticing him made Doug realize, Joey was his high school best friend.
Doug moved to UK after high school for further education and to help his dad with his work, while Joey studied in states and created his own family business. Joey’s family is poor and he lives alone with his mother.
After being denied, Doug continues to follow Jennifer. He does everything to win her heart but fails. Doug wouldn't understand what Jennifer sees in Joey that’s not in him. How can she accept him and refuse the rich guy? Jennifer and Joey have been
