This article was very interesting. It really applies to my honors essay and was a great in-depth desciption into Football at Carlisle. During football documentaries, the early portion of football history always talks in great detail about the successes of Harvard and Yale, accounting their great rivalry and historical relevance. This article takes a different perspective focusing on the successes of the Carlisle football team. The article states, “By 1907, the Carlisle Indians were the most dynamic team in college football.” I found this quote to put in perspective the impact of football at Carlisle. The next sentence states that Carlisle started to incorporate the forward pass, the overhand spiral, and multiple trick plays. All to those aspects…

    a. Back in 1968 and 1969, Joe Paterno’s Penn State football team posted two undefeated regular seasons in a row. Despite their undefeated records, they were given no opportunity to attain the national championship. This is due to the fact that voters were strictly given the power to crown a national champion. In 1969, three teams were undefeated going into the final week; the Texas Longhorns, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and Penn State. Texas was to play Arkansas in the final week, showing which team would seemingly be the best in the nation, yet still couldn’t hold true. Richard Nixon, who was president at the time, took an action which…

The wait is over. The NCAA tournament is finally here! This years tournament will be one to remember as tough competitions will give teams a run for their money as they push to be that “one team” that wins it all. One region of this year's tournament that has caught everybody's eyes is the southern region. The southern region is loaded this year, with the top four seeds receiving high rankings in the AP poll this season. I could see any of these teams losing in the round of 32 or going all the way. But, if there was one team I would have to pick to go all the way, it would have to be the Kentucky Wildcats because of their all around offense and defense.…

I left after a road match at Davidson for a three-hour trek to Columbia, SC, trying to recruit Tom Morris. It was late when I arrived at the stately Bermuda Hills mansion. Father Jack Morris told me later that my willingness to ride there that night, putting me back to Davidson at 3:00 AM, convinced them I’d look after Tom. Tom Morris led us, willed us, played us to the school’s first ever-National Championship.
