Many animals are subject to inhumane conditions and procedures in the “name of science”. Animals are used for testing in everything from that trendy matte red lipstick from Covergirl Cosmetics to medical lab testing used to correctly identify the antibody signaling an immune response in lab rats. Animal testing has a vast range of uses with little to no rules identifying the treatment the animal subject to testing is subjected to. Many different brands, especially cosmetic brands, have cruelty-free stickers on their products to let the customer know the product was produced without harm to animals. The United States of America has not limited the use of animal testing yet, however, the European Union has limited animal testing and banned the use of testing on animals on cosmetics and cosmetic ingredients (European…

Animal testing on cosmetics should be banned. People are put in jail all the time for abusing their pets, but people are never put in jail for inhumane testing of cosmetics and other pharmaceuticals on these same animals. I have done a lot of research on animal testing and methods we can use that are more effective and don’t use animals through high school in my free time because of curiosity, so I know a lot of random facts about the harmful nature of this and alternative methods. Animals are being tortured to “help” make better medicine and, the majority of the time does not affect people the same way as animals. The products we use everyday are a luxury that we are blessed to have and be able to use everyday. They are so easy to use and the benefits are so great that people don’t really care how they are made before they hit the shelves. Animal testing has always been a dispute between people; some people think it’s morally wrong and some people think it helps with medical and scientific breakthroughs. Drugs that people use or cosmetics that are used could have been tested through animals before being stocked on shelves. About 800 animals are tested on before a drug is passed to clinical trials (“Is animal”). Many animals get tested on, but many like mice, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, dogs, cats, pigs, and some other animals get tested on. Animals can be used to find new advances in medical treatment and check safety for products, but these animals that get tested on can go through pain and death. Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped because…

Why do we test animals for cosmetic purposes? Each year, thousands of animals die because of animal testing for cosmetic purposes. Companies think they are only testing on animals for safety regulations for their consumers, but the Food and Drug Administration does not require animal testing on cosmetics (IDA USA). Believe it or not, there are other ways to test cosmetics that does not involve hurting innocent animals. We can reduce the number of animals being harmed by raising awareness, persuading the company, or going through the legal system.…

Every product we own, from makeup to medicine, has to be tested on something or someone before it can be placed on the market to be sold. Most testing for products is done on animals because it is seen as more humane than testing on humans. Animals are viewed as below us, and because of that, their lives do not matter. That is a lie we tell ourselves to make it seem like what is being done to innocent animals is just. In reality, testing on animals does much more harm than good. Thus, experiments for cosmetic, medical, or any other research should not be performed on animals.…

Animal testing is undoubtedly one of the most controversial issues in modern society. This practice began in the 19th century; animals were used to test dosing of certain drugs and chemicals. In the 1920’s, animals were also being used to test pesticides and food additives (Fano, 11). Today, animal testing is used to study everything from cosmetics to cancer. With such a wide range of opinions on animal rights and human priority, it is no wonder that this topic is so controversial. There are people who have an extreme view on the issue and are either completely pro or completely con. In my opinion, the issue of animal testing is far too complex for one simple answer; its morality lies somewhere in between the two poles. Animal testing is acceptable if it results in saving people’s lives. It is not acceptable, however, if it results in personal or cosmetic products that are far from vital to the human race.…

Meanwhile, others object the animal testing based on the purpose of the tests, believing that animal experimentation for the advancement of medical science is acceptable. However, cosmetic testing is not. Animal research is not dependable since there are differences between humans and other animals. However, humans respond differently to particular substances than do other animal species (arsenic is not toxic to sheep, for example, and chocolate is toxic to dogs), there are many more similarities than there are differences and toxicology differences don’t negate the validity of genetic studies.…
