I. INTRODUCTION

B. Announce topic and state your thesis (Why should this be important to the audience?)
C. Preview the three main points in the body (I will be talking to you about A, B, and C)

Remember to insert a LONG PAUSE and TRANSITION to the body (First, I will talk to you about…)

II. BODY
A. First main point (introduce and describe the first point in detail, and name a source while you do it) 1. Details that you are bringing to the audience. 2. More details that you are bringing to the audience.

PAUSE and TRANSITION from first to second main point (Next, I will explain…)

B. Second main point (introduce and describe the first point in detail, naming at least one source) 1. Details that you are bringing to the audience. 2. More details that you are bringing to the audience.

PAUSE and insert a TRANSITION from second to third main point (Finally, I will tell you about…)

C. Third main point (introduce and describe the first point in detail, naming at least one source) 1. Details that you are bringing to the audience. 2. More details that you are bringing to the audience.

Insert a LONG PAUSE and TRANSITION to conclusion (in conclusion, to sum up, let me recap…)

III. CONCLUSION
A. Summarize your three main points (remind them of what you talked about)
B. Restate the thesis (remind them of why this should be important to them)
C. Closing clincher (you may return to that good attention-getting opening line)
