It takes a lot of time for you to decide which kinds of food you should eat tomorrow. I think it is fair to say that what you eat affects your basic appearance, your well being and your future health. A good diet is central to overall good health.

Food has a huge effect on your health. When it comes to a healthy diet, energy balance is the key to getting it right. When we eat and drink, we’re putting energy into our bodies. Our bodies then use up that energy, and the more physical activity we do, the more energy we use. Energy balance means that the energy we put into our bodies must be the same as the energy we use by normal bodily functions and physical activity. A diet rich in any one aspect would be a healthy diet, in the same way that a diet lacking in a certain nutrient would also affect your health

To achieve good health, knowing how many calories are in our food is a helpful tool. An average man needs around 2,500kcal a day. For an average woman, that figure is around 2,000kcal a day. These values can vary depending on age and levels of physical activity. A diet based on starchy foods such as potatoes, rice and pasta; with plenty of fruit and vegetables; some protein-rich foods such as meat, fish and lentils; some milk and dairy foods; and not too much fat, salt or sugar, will give you all the nutrients you need. This means eating a wide variety of foods in the right proportions, and consuming the right amount of food and drink to maintain a healthy body. When an individual does not have a well balanced diet they often develop deficiencies. When a person lacks calcium in their diet, for example, they are at risk of developing osteoporosis. This is deterioration of bone that often leads to a fracture of the bone. You can prevent it by increasing the amount of calcium you take in everyday.
