Why Shouldn T Marijuana Be Legalized

Cannabis or Marijuana is a plant that have been used throughout history by many civilizations for the past ten thousand years. But for some reason it is considered illegal to be used anymore, have you ever stopped and asked yourself, why is marijuana illegal? or when did it become illegal? In this essay, I will argue for the legalization of marijuana based on its effect on the economy and justice system.
Did you know that George Washington grew marijuana at Mount Vernon as one of his three primary crops. Most people don’t know the answer to these questions. Another question that amazes me is. Why alcohol is legal while marijuana is not? First let’s take a look at why Marijuana is illegal, and when did it become illegal. In the 1930’s when alcohol was still illegal, marijuana was considered as a medical prescription. After the Mexican revolution, the U.S. saw an increase of Mexican immigrants. Marijuana was associated with Mexican immigrants and African American Jazz musicians, which changed the name from weed to marijuana (it’s Mexican name).

And to sell marijuana new shops will open creating new jobs and booming the real-estate market. Decriminalizing the use of marijuana would also decrease the number of people in jail for possession or use of marijuana, which is one of the major issues facing the U.S. today. In addition, it should save a good sum of money that is being squandered in the war against drugs, or at the least shift the crackdown against drugs such as crack, cocaine, and other hard drugs that impose far more danger on our society than
