Tyler “is dropped alone onto the frozen tundra, where he begins his mission to live among the howling wolf packs and study their waves” (http://www.amazon.com/Never-Cry-Wolf-Amazing-Arctic/dp/0316881791). Because he is without any survival skills and unsure of where to go and start, his adventure almost ends before it even begins. He is attacked by wolves, but fortunately a travelling Inuit named Ootek sees and rescues him. At first, Tyler just tries to survive in unknown environment. He is really scared, so at nights he dreams of how wolves are attacking him. Contact with Tyler’s quarry comes quickly – he notices two wolves. In his notebook, he names them George and Angeline. They have pups and observe Tyler’s behavior just like he observes theirs. He studies the animals day by day and he is more and more enthusiastic about them. The wolves are surprisingly very patient, Tyler becomes the object of their attention and they accept him in their environment. They both accept each other’s boundaries; they indicate that when they mark their territories with urine - this is for Tyler much harder than for “George”. The result is trust and respect between them. Consequently, one sunny day, Tyler discovers wolves’ eating habits – in less than an hour, Angeline catches and consumes 23 mice. There…

Throughout english literature many topics have been discussed, from the typical “good v.s. evil” concept, to the more interesting and compelling ideas such as the thoughts of the insane. These are the stories that really grab the attention of the reader and leave them questioning what they may or amy not believe about certain ideas. Strong stories like these are the ones that make true impressions. Stories are often over dramatized with their characters and the abilities that they posses. Most books have the childish theme of “good guy beats bad guy” but some times a story can tackle much more adult, darker and thought-provoking, and contradictory of topics, such as the value of human life. Both “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell and “The Child by Tiger” by Thomas Wolfe have similar but unique themes of darkness and death, as well as similar conflicts and although the characters are fictional the ideas couldn’t be more real.…

Beginning the passage, the main character is presented with the obstacle of carrying the lifeless body of a wolf up the Pilares Mountain. McCarthy utilizes selection of detail as he unveils the main character’s tenderness towards the female wolf. In line 5, the narrator watches as he “[cradles] the wolf in his arms and [lowers] her to the ground.” This careful treatment of the wolf by the protagonist is somewhat unexpected as animals are frequently viewed as being beneath humans – they are beaten, starved, neglected, even killed by humans yet this character displays respect and compassion for the animal. The detail of how the “coyotes were yapping along the hills” (line 10) is an example of the mournful aspect behind the wolf’s death. Like the coyotes, the main character seems to be mourning her death by the way he respects her still body and the fact that he is journeying a mountain in order to ultimately find a peaceful resting place for her. Also, the detail of the wolf’s fur being “bristly with the blood dried upon it” (line 7) highlights the religious aspect behind her death. This image of what…

Wind-Wolf is a 5 year old indian (native) child was labeled as a “slow learner” by his white teacher. The reason why the teacher called him this is because this boy was barely getting introduced to the western culture. He is coming from an indian background. The father is trying to teach the teacher where Wind-Wolf comes from. The reason he is doing this is because windwolf is being bullied for being different and the teacher does nothing to stop that for example the “the teacher insisted on calling him wind and because of that the class laughed at him causing more embarrassment”. Also the teacher said he is a “slow learner” just because he was taught different not like his other peers. Like the way he was taught to count or distinguish colors, he learned via his mother and aunt pretty much the village and the knowing how many months there are in a year.Lastly grizzly bear just wants the teacher to try to understand why windwolf is a “slow learner” he wants the teacher to know he doesn’t want windwolf to be a dropout because his school wasn’t able to understand his background he doesn't want windwolf to be ashamed of his…
