Durant incorporated the company on November 3, 1911 while Louis Chevrolet worked on large luxury cars. In 1913, Durant introduced one of the most recognized emblems today, the chevrolet bowtie. It is a great mystery how Durant had come up with the idea of this emblem, and there are many theories. Some say that Durant had got it from a wallpaper design from a hotel in France, or that Durant had even gotten the idea from a newspaper add. There is also the swiss flag theory of a fancier version of the swiss cross, which is Durant’s home country. But there is no positive answer on how the bowtie came into play(Rae). This had been a very hopeful goal for chevy, and they finally achieved it. Even though this would only last for three years, it was still a great point in history for Chevrolet. During the 1930’s, chevy felt the need to improve their industry, and improvise. Chevy came up with many new styles and models to surpass ford again. They had created a v-shaped grille to add to great style of the automobiles. Also hydraulic brakes for safer and quicker braking, larger engines for maximum horsepower, and convertible tops for beautiful summer days. All of these great fashion and model ideas came into great play for chevrolet, and are still a great factor in today's automotive
