Volleyball: Improve and Trustworthy Leader
Volleyball, a game of strategy and technique helped develop who I am today. Throughout my life, I have been on many sports teams; however, volleyball is the sport that has allowed me to grow the most as a person. It has made me into the strong, determined and trustworthy leader I am today. Along with improvements in these personal qualities, I have also enhanced my volleyball skills. Recognition for this improvement was given when I received an award for the most improved player. Due to my dedication to this sport, I was also recognized as the most valuable player on the team. These acknowledgments allowed me to gain motivation to become a better player. I wanted to be the best and I refused to settle for anything less. Over the years, my team and I became well coordinated and worked together to strive to achieve a common goal, winning. In 2010, we made it to the finals. Through hard struggle and dedication we placed third out of the eight teams that were present. This was the first year we made it to finals and received placement. Volleyball has allowed me to gain confidence and because of this sport, I have realized I am able to succeed in anything I set my mind to. The qualities I have developed through playing volleyball have enabled me to become a better person. As a strong, confident, and determined woman with her eyes set on success, I am eager to overcome adversity and excel in future

I signed up for volleyball. I have only had two practices. Hitherto, I acquired the skills of passing the ball, serve overhand, and set the ball. I failed to attend the first practice. As a result, I do not know how to properly serve underhand. Practice is every Friday night from six “o” clock to six forty-five at Anderson Farm Park. Moreover drills, we play games. One game I relish is where a person serves the ball to the other side of the net and tries to hit someone. If they are not successful, they have to sit were the ball landed. If they do strike someone, they earn a point. Volleyball is an enjoyable experience.…

This is my second year on the Peabody Magnet High Soccer team, and I was even awarded the Coach’s award for playing midfield and made honorably mention in my district ranking. I also am the Co-Captain of the Peabody Flag line. Being on the soccer and flag teams taught me that hard work really pays off and really forced me to challenge myself. When the flag line first started, we did not have a coach or experience. Although we taught ourselves our own routines, techniques and twirls; we placed and won a 3rd place trophy in our first battle of the bands competition. It was the smallest trophy there, but it meant more to me than any big one could. It just proved to me again that if I put my mind to something I could accomplish…

My life has revolved around soccer since I was four years old. My whole family was born into the sport and I’m so thankful that I have the support from my family and friends to continue to follow my dream in playing college soccer. I believe my life would not be the same without participating in the sport I love and playing with the people I grew up with. I wouldn’t have met half the people I know now. All my teammate’s families that treat me like their family would have been just imaginary. I wouldn’t have a second family to fall back on when I need. Soccer had made me for who I am. The reason I’m so competed and driven is because of the game. Soccer has helped me become a responsible hardworking young adult that doesn’t like to fail. My never-quit…

As a freshman, I made the varsity volleyball team. With this position came a lot of responsibility and pressure. My teammates always looked at me as the “baby”, but they expected me to play at the same level as the seniors. I learned how to deal with difficult personalities and I learned how to commit myself to a team and a sport. I also learned that I was a role model to other teammates and young volleyball players. Just like the Pink Ranger, people looked up to me and I tried to lead by example throughout my volleyball career.…

For me, I am someone who plays volleyball because I feel like in certain ways I am obligated to playing. If I were to quit volleyball I would literally do nothing with my life. This sport is very much time consuming and without it, I'd probably be a fat potato that does not extracurricular activities or hobbies what so ever. Hopefully, by the end of this project, I am able to find other things that I am interested in than just volleyball. When deciding what I wanted to do for my project I had no idea what to do. It felt like I had no life outside of volleyball and school. Volleyball was my hobby, but it was not something that I truly enjoyed doing. After going into conference with Mrs. Lee to brainstorm the different topics that I could do for my Quality Project. She asked questions that were supposed to provoke ideas. She would ask me, "What do you care about?" or "What do you do in your free time?" I told her how I play volleyball and how I…
