Personal Essay: The Pink Ranger
Thinking back over my life, I remember what I wanted to be when I “grew up”. I didn’t want to be a typical nurse, astronaut, or singer. I wanted to be the Pink Power Ranger. Why I wanted to be a Pink Ranger was quite simple to a second grader. I wanted to save the world, make a difference, and wear a cute pink uniform. Some were supportive in my quest to become the superhero. Others tried to explain to me that the Pink Power Ranger didn’t really exist. I vowed to show them that I would one day be the Pink Ranger. I hope to be a positive role model to my students and remind them that no goal is too big. So for the naysayers that said I would never be a Pink Power Ranger, I have to disagree. I already am. “Pink Ranger for the

Fifth grade volleyball and basketball were simple. Everyone was usually equally good, but by sixth grade I realized some of my teammates were getting better. It was because most of my teammates did out of school teams too. Of course I could never be in an out of school team because they cost a lot of money. It always frustrated me because I always felt I did not contribute enough for my team. By my eighth grade year, I was, besides only two other people, the only one who was not in a team like Impact or MVA.
