Présentation de l’entreprise Starbucks
Fondée en 1971, Starbucks Coffee Company est la plus grande chaîne multinationale de cafés, Starbucks était alors spécialisé dans le commerce de café en grains. En 1987, Starbucks est devenue Starbucks Corporation après son acquisition par Howard Schultz, l'entreprise a alors ouvert et racheté des boutiques à travers le monde entier. Les boutiques Starbucks vendent en plus de leur propre marque du café, du thé, des pâtisseries mais également des machines à café.
1) Présentation et historique de l’entreprise
Les fondateurs de Starbucks sont Jerry Baldwin, Gordon Bowker et Zev Siegl, Baldwin. Les trois entrepreneurs, passionnés de café, ont été inspirés par Alfred Peet, qu'ils connaissaient personnellement, et ouvrent leur premier commerce pour vendre du café en grains de haute qualité et des machines à café. L'entreprise tient son nom de « Starbo », un camp minier du XIXe siècle du mont Rainier, qui rappelle aux fondateurs « Starbuck », un personnage de Moby Dick. Le logo choisi est une sirène couronnée. Starbucks, pendant la première année, a acheté ses grains de café non torréfiés à Peet’s Coffe & Tea. Par la suite, Les fondateurs achètent directement aux producteurs. Ils torréfient leurs grains à des niveaux proches de ceux de Peet's, noirs et mi-noirs.
L'entrepreneur Howard Schultz a rejoint la société en 1982. Après un voyage à Milan, Schultz, inspiré par les bars à expresso italiens, propose l’idée que les magasins Starbucks servent des boissons au café en plus de café en grains. Les propriétaires rejettent initialement l'idée, mais en avril 1984 laissent Schultz tenter l'expérience sous la forme d'un bar à espresso dans la sixième enseigne ouverte par la société à Seattle. Malgré le succès relatif de l'expérience, Baldwin refuse d'ouvrir d'autres bars, préférant se concentrer sur le savoir-faire de Starbucks en matière de commerce en café en grains. Despite competitors like Folgers,Nescafe, Peet’s, By 1982, Starbucks had five retail outlets that sold supplies for brewing coffee at home and also the coffee beans butnot prepared beverages.
