Real Life Work The technology is here. But the jobs are nowhere to be found. Thanks to the efficiency of the internet and automated systems, productivity has grown during the last few decades, but the middle class jobs are disappearing. In fact, we have reached a tipping point where technology is now destroying more jobs than it creates. Technological unemployment is the concept of technology killing more jobs than it produces.
Social Lens. Social media is taking a strong turn including the business world. Mobility is the “next big thing,” as people would say. The rise of social networking has figuratively shrunk the world and now users can connect without regard to geographical obstacle, financial background, or even social status. Regardless

There is a vast majority of working internet users who say it is “very important” to do their job. Email and the internet are deemed the most important communications and internet tools among online workers. Land line phones, cell devices, and social networking come in close behind in percentage. All of this is a distraction. As of 2014, 47 percent of workers confess their biggest problem with meetings is that people are not paying attention. A whole 71 percent of employees are doing something completely unrelated during a conference call. A study examines that men are more distractible than women. As many as 73 percent of the largest generation in the workforce are doing something else than making a conference call and 45 percent check their phones during in-person meetings. However you choose to perceive technology, it is not going away and there will be an increasing number of distractions. Distractions in the workplace get noticed by the lead of the company. The termination of employees has to come into play when distractions do. An employer does not want someone who is easily distracted. Studies from the British Journal of Cancer (2016) have shown that long working hours could be associated with risk of cancer. “Long working hours could impact cancer risk via their association with lifestyle-related exposures. Observational evidence suggests that working longer than recommended hours is linked to many behavioral cancer risk factors, …” Therefore, technology could improve the risk of cancer throughout the business world. Although the solution to those long working hours is more complicated than just keeping technology in business. Yes, you can have technology in business offices working for you, but someone always has to be monitoring the technology.
