Same sex marraige

Same sex marriage; this topic never seems to end. Over and over again throughout the years, activists have reasoned beyond belief why homosexuals should be given the same rights and opportunities as heterosexuals. After all, what really matters are the love between two people and the passion they share for each other. Should an individual’s sex really be an issue when it comes to marriage? I personally oppose the issue of same sex marriage. There are plenty of constitutional and biblical proofs available to resist this wayward engagement. First, think about the taxpayers, consumers, and businesses. These people would without a doubt be forced to subsidize homosexual relationships. One of the biggest arguments seems to come from government benefits and in the form of social security for homosexual partners. Social security was not made or funded for this lifestyle, so by no means should this government aid be made ready to homosexuals. Next, there are the public school systems. Would schools teach that homosexual relationships are identical to heterosexual ones? Of course they would. According to an article “Gay Marriage Should Not Be Legal,” National Public Radio reported, “Already, some gay and lesbian advocates are working on a new gay-friendly curriculum for kindergarten and up.” Is this what you want in the minds of your five year old children? No, thank you. I would be devastated to say the least if my children were getting this information from school. What about freedom of speech and religion? Where are these guidelines going to fall? If we freely speak about the scriptures and tell people what the bible says about this lifestyle, where does that leave us? Hate crimes perhaps, or being imprisoned for literally speaking truth. Sounds absurd but in reality this could happen and much sooner then we realize. It’s safe to say that given the right to same sex marriage fewer people would marry, fewer people would remain sexually faithful, and fewer people would stay married for a lifetime. It seems non-marital cohabitation is on the rise. Given this lifestyle fewer children will be raised with both a mother and a father. This stability in the home is already missing way too often. Why would we want to add to the heartache of our children?

I would like to introduce a little of the biblical perspective on this issue. After all, our founding fathers founded the constitution on a biblical base and knowledge of needing God in America. Leviticus 18:22 states, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind. It is abomination. Defile not ye yourself in any of these things.” Verses from the bible strongly indicate that same sex marriage lifestyles should not be suppressed. Hence, the foundation of our American law comes from the Bible. Another scripture in Leviticus 20:13 states “If a man also lie with mankind , as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” Thank God for mercy or a lot of people would be in some serious trouble today according to these Old Testament laws. Finally, take a look at what the New Testament has to say about such actions. 1 Corinthians 6:9 says, “Or know ye not that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not led astray. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate men, nor homosexuals.” It’s easy to see that God is displeased with these acts. Marriage is honorable. God’s plan for our happiness is traditional marriage between one man and one woman. These laws and traditions have been maintained throughout the course of time. Who are we to remove the landmarks established by our forefathers?
