Reliable Sources Worksheet

Locate two sources in the University Library on a topic of your choice. Provide the required information for both sources.

Source 1

• Author: R BROCKMAN • Date: SUMMER 2011 • Title: Aspects of psychodynamic neuropsychaitry II • Publication: The journal of American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry

Write a 100- to 150-word response to each of the following questions:

• Is the source reliable? How do you know? This source is not reliable because it is not based on fact and only based on the author opinion but it has some reliable information in it because a clinical theory was presented and the information was based on the theory. If the source information was based solely on facts then it would be considered a reliable source. Majority of the source information is reliable but everything based on opinion I would not recommend the use of that particular information in the source.

• Is the information relevant to the topic? The information present is relevant to the topic but some of the information is not relevant to the topic because it talks about an individual’s opinion which it states that the he Freud was confident that such grounds would replace the psychological understanding. Being confident is not being sure it is like wishing and hoping that something might occur

• Does the information reflect a bias on the author’s part? If so, what is the bias? The information in the article does not reflect bias on the Author part it address all aspect to everyone and everything.

Source 2

When it comes to credible sources there are many things to take into consideration when researching for credible articles. Some of the things that one has to take into consideration are:does the author credentials correlate with the research study, is there any form of conflict of interest for the author that can be considered as being bias, is the journal peer reviewed, does the publication have financial ties to the result of the study and lastly has the study been published within a sufficient time frame. As you can already tell there are many contributions when it comes to credible sources…
