Seeing students all over the country going at the ministry queuing up for days for loans approval, running up and down to and from the ministry and their institution if something is not well with their loans, and queuing up at their institutions to find out how much the ministry awarded them every year and going to the ministry to hand in their academic records and the proof of the registration, and NSFAF distributes millions of applications forms country-wide to all secondary schools, institutions and high learning, vocational training centres, colleges and regional education/councils offices, and sending them to individuals postal addresses on request has made me realise that there is a problem with the usage of the current system. Coming up with an online application, notification and reminder that will make things easier for students, the ministry, and the institutions is what encouraged me.
1.2 Problem Statement
The current system at NSFAF is very slow, delays in notifying student about their loans status, whether approved or not, awarded amount, waste of resources, printing of lots of application paper to distribute country wide, and hiring casual workers to help entering data from the applications to the database manually which is tiring, time consuming, applications can get lost or misplaced, no proper communication between students, the ministry, and their institutions about their funds.
Accuracy: The level of accuracy will be higher. All operation would be done correctly and it ensures that whatever information recorded is accurate.
Reliability: Increased reliability of the system is that now there would be a quick proper storage of information.
No Redundancy: Utmost care would be that no information is repeated anywhere, in storage or otherwise. This would assure economic use of storage space and consistency in the data stored.
Immediate storage and retrieval of information: To provide for a quick and efficient retrieval of information. Any type of information would be available whenever the user requires and to limit many problems that occur when storing large amounts of information when using a manual system.
Increase security: Information will not be easy to access as password will be used and there won’t be any chances of documentation getting lost.
Faster execution of NSFAF activities will take place with the new computerized system as excessive paper work will be reduced.
Education is very crucial and students need peace of mind to concentrate and be successful in their study without stress. It is very disturbing to students when they don’t know where they stand regarding their tuition fees, and all other financial related that they need to settle with their institutions for them to be able to get admitted or write exams but knowing what’s really going on with their loans it’s disturbing and they stand a very high chance for them to go back and sit at home without any education. Students run around all days missing their classes to settle the issues with their institutions and the ministry and at the end of the day they will fail.
So I would like to develop this system that will run on computers unlike the current manual system at the ministry where by all the names of the students who’s loans are approved sent to their institution and that doesn’t mean that the government paid, students still have to wait from the finance office to see if the government pay for them or not and if not they go back at the...
