Portfolio

Introduction:

A portfolio is a collection of evidence that represents achievements and learning within a module, course or a program of a study. This portfolio that am going to write is about Business Writing course that I’m taking in this semester. As all other students who took Business Writing, it 's about understanding the audience; in this course I have learned that our goal is to adapt our message to fit the audience 's needs, goals and interest.

This course is also about business communication, how to have good communicating skills, writing a business letter, placing orders, direct requests and how to write letters and memos. Business writing differs from academic writing; the layout of details is a compulsory where you take your reader step by step, through your thinking process and journey.

According to the website of University of Wisconsin: http://www.unc.edu/wcweb/handouts/business.html. " Business writing varies from chatty, conversational style often found in email messages to a familiar co-worker, to the more formal, legalistic style found in contracts."

Business Writing course or eng212 is so beneficial and useful to me. The subject contains how to write a memo, business email messages and business letters and many more. It also includes several assignments that the lecturer gives us after every class. Our first class was about how to write a memo.

Assignment 1: Memo

To write a memo, we need to know what is the meaning of it? A memo is a short request or short direct informative summery. It is important to know the format that is going to be used in a memo. To have a good material and a well written memo, the purpose should be a first thing to focus on. It also should achieve a good business style. As well as, it should be well formatted and pleasing. Therefore, ordering information from most important to less important is also need to be focused on.
