Personal Narrative: A Day In Colorado
Colorado “ Come and eat.” Joe,the leader of the trip, struggled to say because he was so tired, “Breakfast is going to be light this morning because we have along day head of us.” We all struggled to get out of our tents considering it was 5:30am and there was a mountain we had to start climbing in a half hour. All thirteen of us stood in a line like we did the morning before while we packed our lunches. The options available to us were an apple, cheese stick, peanut butter and jelly to make sandwiches, but only 2 per person, yogurt and 2 bottles of water. All of that would have to fit into a back pack with us the would be stuck to our backs for the rest of the day. “Time to load!” Joe shouted. We all got into the van that seated 16, single file until very seat was filled. The mountain stood there looking at us as we all got out of the van, looking back at it. We were all intimidated by the mountain standing in front of us. Estes Cone was 11,000 elevation. None of us were prepared for it so we just had to jump in head first not knowing what we are …show more content…
We made our way back to the van slowly but surely and got into the van single file like last time and everyone in the same spots. Not one eye was open, except for the driver, on the way back to camp. When we made it back to camp everyone went in their tents and slept till it was time for supper. After supper and devotions, we had a campfire. The sky was darker than ever and the stars where bright as can be. We sang campfire songs and played games, roasted marsh mellows and cooked popcorn over the fire, that was the best night of my life so far. Going to Colorado was definitely the best vacation I have ever took in my whole life that I will never forget. I know for sure, I left a piece of heart in Colorado that I will never get

We left the school at 10:30 a.m. on a bright and sunny Monday morning. Our original plan was to leave at 10, but Cutter was late. We managed to get twelve people and all of their luggage on a little, tiny route bus. By the time we reached Clarendon, we realized that our little buses main air conditioner had broken. We were very upset, and the reason we were upset is because we were going to be in a bus without an air conditioner for five hours. Even though it seemed like the trip took days, we finally made it to the Dallas area. In the end we calculated that it took us almost eight hours, and this wasn’t counting the hour we spent in Cabela’s. After we went to Cabela’s we went to our hotel and checked in. Since convention started the next day, we just stayed at the hotel and relaxed.…

After a restful night, we prepared to leave camp, having packed our bags with food, equipment, and an assortment of questions. As we hiked up the steep terrain, the temperature started to fall. Soon the once cotton-candy clouds threatened to rain. A chilling wind swished down the mountain side rustling leaves and bringing shivers down my spine. What once seemed like a wonderful opportunity , was now a death sentence. When we neared the final ascent, the hail came. Hurling down at tremendous speed, the bullets pierced my thin jacket and forced me to retreat to my thick coat. As we neared the saddle, the wind blew even harder, driving right through our defenses, chilling me to the bone. We were…

It was my first camping trip with my dad, his family, and my sister. We began our trip to the Florida Keys talking about all the exciting things we were planning on doing during our three-day stay. Our plan was to arrive early, set up our tent and get settled. We would then familiarize ourselves with the area and afterwards go fishing. How fun! I couldn’t wait!…

After eating our sack lunches within sight of the canyon, many of us wanted to make the climb to an area above it. We knew others had done so on previous trips. A few girls went first to make sure they were on the right path. But after they left, the rest of us seven decided to go ahead without waiting for them to return. I suspected we were going the wrong way, but I kept silent, figuring that the others knew better. We went along the base of the canyon until we reached the climb. It stopped me in my tracks.…

It’s nearly dark outside. We always have to wait until its dark.it just isn’t safe to travel in broad daylight. So I reluctantly got up from the mud and grass, which has been my bed for the night. We always sleep during the day, however if you ot three hours of sleep you were lucky. The group that I travel with have been reluctant in letting me join them. They believed that because I was a young girl I couldn’t make it all the way. But I’m determined to show them, I’ve already made it out of Virginia unharmed and prepared for the journey ahead of me.…

I looked outside the window and there were surprisingly a few cars on the road although it was peak hour. Before I knew it, we arrived the destination before schedule. We were all pleasantly surprised by the scenic view. We walked briskly to our campsite. The sun was already high up in the sky. Our stomachs were all grumbling when we reached the campsite. So we grabbed some beverages and snacks to eat and drink. We relaxed for a while on the benches before setting up camp. Not long later, we were grouped into fives to pitch up a tent. Everyone worked cooperatively with their groups. My teacher helped to secure my group’s tent tightly to the ground and checked that everything was taut. We were perspiring profusely.…

The back of your Dad's truck felt so small. We couldn't even stretch our legs. Thinking about it now I don't know why we sat back there, and suffered the whole way up there, especially on those curvy, bumpy roads. Sleeping half the way up to the mountains was the only thing that helped us survive the ride. Once we woke up do you remember sticking grapes up our noses and then giving them to Janie? We couldn't stop laughing so much; I think that's how she knew we did something to her grapes. If she only would have eaten one, I think we would have pissed our pants. Finally after hours and hours we arrived to the cabin.…
