How to raise children is not passed down genetically from parent to child, but the question remains on how and or what the appropriate manner is to rear a child. In psychology it is understood that the cognitive mind learns through experience and how a person perceptually interprets the environment (Baumrind, D. (1967). In the earlier years children have a specific time in which there mind is like a sponge and can absorb so much information. Do different parenting styles affect this ability of absorbing information? Permissive Parenting is a more lenient approach to parenting. This style of parenting is also considered or known as indulgent parenting. The focus of parents in style of parenting is more of a nurturing and communicative style. Parents tend to be the friend rather than the parent. The children that grow up in this household have a better chance of communicating their needs to their parents. Lastly uninvolved parenting is style of parenting that does not require much demand on the children from the parents. These parents are detached form their children and could often neglect or even reject their children.
