.Operations Management at Hard Rock Café
Identify how each of the 10 decisions of operations management are applied at Hard Rock Cafe.
1. Design of goods and services: Hard Rock Cafe's tangible product is the food that they produce. Creating and testing of the products for customer satisfaction and cost efficiency is pivotal to its success. Customer recommendation plays an important role for HRC to improvise their food, music and services.
2. Quality:, HRC makes sure that quality people have been hired. They are then trained to provide quality service, and a positive experience to the customers.
3. Process design: The food production process, from receiving the ingredients, to cold storage, to grilling or baking or frying, and a dozen other ingredients, is designed and maintained to yield a quality meal. Also, the process of receiving the customers, to assigning their seats, to taking and processing their orders, to delivery of their meals, and the payment must be designed well, especially for peak times.
4. Location strategy: HRCs are catered largely to tourists, and hence, they are located in destination cities.
5. Layout strategy: Efficient kitchen layout eases food preparation and circulation. The Dinning layout plays a vital role since this sets the condition for the customers.
6. Human Resources: HRC carefully selects the staff it hires for their passion to serve, in order to provide the best experience for customers. The staff is trained and developed to excite the customers and provide entertainment. The enthusiasm of the staff is the main reason people come back to HRC.
7. Supply chain management: HRC gets the right ingredients at the right place and the right time from its qualified suppliers.
8. Inventory: They are cleaned and stored very carefully. Further, the food ingredients are stored at the right temperatures and used in time. The above mentioned are the contributing factors for easy inventory.
