“A Goodman is Hard to Find” Psychological Criticism
“My Parents’ Bedroom” New Historicism

“A&P” Marxist Criticism

Pick one of the short stories listed and write a literary analysis using one critical approach (limited to those discuss in this class only and listed on your syllabus). You will be expected to structure your paper (beyond a 3 paragraph essay), this will include the following:
 Title: make your title creative and thoughtful – not A Literary Analysis of…
 Introduction: briefly introduce the selection you have chosen to write about and clearly state your thesis
 Body paragraphs: this is the bulk of your analysis, which should also include quotes from the text. Please refer to your SF Writer for proper in-text citation. A work cited page is also a must!
 Conclusion: bring your analysis and argument to a close.
This paper is a literary analysis with application of a critical approach. This means you must know your critical lens prior to using. This also means you will only be able to use the tools of that particular lens to make your observations, interpretations and analysis. Please write in literary present.
 NO outside source, unless your critical approach allows it, if so you are limited to one.
 Review MLA PowerPoint for proper quoting and in-text citation rules, located in the “Everything MLA” folder. Your Writer’s Reference book is also a helpful tool.

One theme that is great for any age boy is a cabin theme. This is perfect for little boys and older boys because most boys enjoy camping in the outdoors or even fishing or hiking. The best thing about this type of room theme is it can even bring back pleasant memories for each parent. Decorating the room is easy you simply have to find wallpaper borders that remind you of a cabin in the woods, which can be moose or even bears. You can use animal themed bedding or you can choose plaid patterns, which the plaid often reminds you of flannel pajamas that you wear in the winter while camping out. You can add natural accessories or you can buy stuff to help decorate the room, you can even use rustic furniture, such as wooden chests for toys and a log style bed.…
