Company Description Section Cabela’s, the world’s foremost outfitter, offers quality hunting, fishing, camping, and outdoor gear at competitive prices. Their main marketing objective is to be the market leader in this space. Their product offering is vast and includes guns, boats, ATV’s, clothing, footwear, home/cabin supplies, and gear for outdoor hobbies. They have a division of their company that sells what they call “trophy properties,” properties in nature areas where a person can hunt or fish. This part of their marketing mix ties into their focus of selling to the outdoor enthusiast. Cabela’s has a “Gun Library” where a consumer can buy, sell, or trade their guns. The consumer can search their library to see the gun offerings, this gives Cabela’s the opportunity to sell their new guns as well as help others sell or trade their own guns. This offering gives the impression to the consumer that the company is being helpful, while also being an outlet for sales. The company offers the consumer “Outdoor Adventure” trips around the world where they can camp, hunt, or fish. Their travel department will assist the consumer to book their flight and hotel accommodations. You can also purchase your TAGS for hunting or fishing, it is like a one-stop shop. You can also post pictures of your hunting and fishing trophy’s on their Web site. They also offer Cabela’s Television where you can go find videos with tips for a successful camping trip and other outdoor adventures. In order to understand the current marketing environment a situation analysis, or SWOT analysis, should be conducted. Performing a SWOT analysis will enable Cabela’s to identify their competitive advantage in the market. Innovation is something that has been on the forefront of the success of Cabela’s. From retail stores to e-commerce, Cabela’s also offers a fun and educational experience for its customers with its museums and educational outlets. With this growth comes the need to continually be innovative as competition tries to creep into the picture. What I propose that the next service that Cabela’s offers is to be another step towards educating its customers, while also inspiring them to shop for more products. I propose that Cabela’s offers training courses in some of the popular outdoor sports such as archery and canoeing. Not only would an educational approach be attractive to Cabela’s customers, but it would also give them a need for and a reason to buy some of the necessary products for archery and canoeing.…

Cabelas is a retail store found across the country offering outdoor products for the casual to serious hunter/fisherman. They offer for the hunter, firearms, ammunition, reloading equipment, optics, tree stands, decoys, game calls, and just about anything that is associated with the sport. They also sell boating supplies, auto and all terrain vehicle products, clothing, home and cabin, and footwear. Depending on the season, they have many different angles of approach as far as where they want to concentrate their marketing. Their current promotional strategy is geared toward the summer activities, boating, camping, fishing, boots, and clothing. On their website, they are targeting with photographs of families camping; they even had an elderly couple with grandchildren marketing to that crowd as well. The other photograph for clothing was a single male, standing in front of a truck with a flannel shirt. Fishing is a large emphasis on the website for good reason, for we are in the summer season, and they are implying that consumers can get a deal on all gear related to the sport. They have a picture on the home page of a convenient way to organize fishing tackle. Another emphasis on the page that is repeated twice is the, “Cabelas fish for Millions, will you Catch the Million Dollar Fish?” Participants need to fish in eligible waters across the United States and try to catch one of 1500 tagged fish, enter that tag number on the website to find out if they have won the grand prize. There are other prizes awarded as well with tag numbers entered as a marketing strategy. Of course, Cabelas offers credit cards with the standard deals of an initial low APR interest rate and use your Cabelas club to card to get points. There are four different areas on the homepage to apply to get a Cabelas club card. Build up your points and get a certain amount of money in…

I think they use a variety of all four of the categories listed on the table 6.1 on page 165. I think they use targeting probably the most, as they are an outdoor store in general. I do believe they also use segmentation by dividing their store among many different outdoor activities and sports. Differentiation fits in because they offer a wide variety of top end products at different price ranges. Positioning because they have multiple locations and are still building more, they currently have around 65 locations and according to their Facebook page have two more in the works.…

I like to shop online and stores like this that have a wide range of products are really convenient for shopping because there is less navigation involved. This site also has a lot of camping cookware, too. I am switching my camping cookware from nonstick to stainless steel because it lasts forever and isn't all that hard to clean up. It's also considered the healthiest cookware, too, camping or at home, so when I see good deals on stainless steel pots and pans, I'm snatching them up. I love getting our camping gear online because I save money and time and over the course of a year, both of those add up, making it possible for us to have more time to go out camping and enjoying the food, scenery, and the great…
