Malcolm X was born on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska. Malcolm was born to Louise, looked like a white women, and Earl Little, a Baptist minister who was also a member of U.N.I.A (Universal Negro Improvement Association) which is the local group found to return their African homeland. Because of his father’s action, Malcolm and his family underwent tough life, harassment from white people such as Ku Klux Klan, insist the white supremacy. He lost his parents early in his life. His father was murdered by white supremacists due to his threats, after his father’s death, his mother got a mental disorder and never recovered from the shock of her husband’s death. At high school, although Malcolm was the only black student, he was a good student and everyone liked him. But, his turning point was when his teacher told him “One of life’s first needs is for us to be realistic, why don’t you plan on carpentry?” Then he decided to face against the racism, and he dropped out of school. After quitting school, he move to Boston, live with his sister, Ella, and got a job there, but the surroundings in Boston implied him the wrong direction he began to sell drugs and he was arrested. While in the prison, he began to read books a lot such as history and philosophy and spread his knowledge. After his release he abandoned his surname “Little” and given “X” which is the symbol to stand for unknown.
Malcolm broke up with his first girlfriend, Laura, who was quiet, educated and love dancing girl, eventually, she became a prostitute because of Sophia. She was contrast to Laura, a “Negro crazy” white woman, and Malcolm was using her to rise his position in the ghetto, similarly, Sophia was using him to satisfy her excitement because having relationship with black men was forbidden, there was no love in their relationship.
