Leadership can be defined as a process by which one individual influences others toward the attainment of group or organizational goals. There are three points about leadership that should be emphasized. First, leadership is a social influence process. Leadership cannot exist without a leader and one or more followers. Second, leadership elicits voluntary action on the part of followers. The voluntary nature of compliance separates leadership from other types of influence based on formal authority. Finally, leadership results in followers ' behavior that is purposeful and goal-directed in some sort of organized setting. Many although not all, studies of leadership focus on the nature of leadership in the workplace (Advameg Inc., 2010).…

Working in an organization that is growing rapidly, I have learnt and appreciated the importance of Leadership and Communication. Leaders are not always those in higher positions of organization; they should be present at every level which will help sustain success of organization over a long period. A good leader is one who is able to influence and lead people to achieve common goals of the company. In my short experience of two years in corporate world, I have come across people who lead others by example. It is a very challenging task to build a dedicated team, which can only be done by a leader who himself is highly dedicated. Leaders do not believe in controlling people, they challenge one’s skills and capabilities for the growth of individual and the organization in common. They do not fear failure, rather inspire and encourage teams to take calculated risks.…

When we ask ourselves a question, what is an effective leadership, we normally observe such aspects as influence, strategy, visions, powerful ideas, inspiration, emotional intelligence and many others. Choosing a leadership style could be one of the most crucial decisions for the business. To begin with, a leader is a person, who influences other people in order to achieve goals. Put it in another way, he/she is an inspiration and director of the action. The secret of effective leadership does not depend on what the leader is doing, but on how he or she is doing it. There are two ways of influencing others: through the power of rewards, punishment or through the inspiration and emotional intelligence.…

Leadership is defined as “the ability to influence people towards the attainment of organisational goals” (Samson & Daft, 2008). However, among all the ideas and writings about leadership, there are three different aspects that influence effective leadership; people, influences and goals. In other words, leadership is ‘self-motivated’ as it involves the use of power to influence people to achieve goals and outcomes (Samson & Daft, 2008). Effective leaders are essentially a fine balance between characteristics/traits, behaviors, sources of power, the use of power and aspects of the situation (Vojya, 2010). However, in saying that, there are many factors that contribute in attaining effective leadership (Ahmad, 2011). Some of these characteristics include; empathy, communication, respect, accountability, listening, attitude, integrity, and many more.…
