No scholarship money will be issued to students until the Greater Lowell Community Foundation and/or Lowell High School certifies that the award will be made. Certain scholarships listed in this bulletin include an anticipated award amount, based on last year’s awards. Scholarships for which the anticipated amount is unknown are designated as TBD (To Be Determined).

These scholarships require the Lowell High School Honors Night Scholarship Application, scholarship ID transcript, resume and required essay. Unless noted by an asterisk (*), the LHS Scholarship Selection Committee will choose the recipient(s) of each award.

Some scholarships may require a separate application form. These scholarships are available in the College & Career Center, Room 116. Applicants should follow specific individual directions on each application.

Please note: All LHS Scholarships are due in the College & Career Center on February 28, or March 1, 2013 by 2:30 p.m. unless noted otherwise in the criteria. Applicants are responsible for meeting all deadlines. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION I

1826 Lowell High Scholarship Fund$500
Scholarship awarded to a minimum of two and no more than four graduating seniors who have taken a minimum of two Business Education courses at LHS (except for Office Intern, Work Experience and Marketing Lab) and received a grade of 85 or above in each course. Preference will be given to students who participated in DECA, Business Professionals of America, or worked in the School Store. Students must be attending a two- or four- year institution or technical school.

Allied Waste Services of Massachusetts, LLC Scholarship$1,000 Awarded to students who have been involved in environmental projects at LHS or in the community or has been accepted into an environmental science related major. Documentation explaining participation in projects and/or acceptance into the particular major must be attached to the application.

Edward J. Babigan Memorial Scholarship Fund$1,000 - $1,499 Awarded to an outstanding senior chemistry student.

Walter A. Bacigalupo Memorial Scholarship Fund$250
Awarded to deserving students attending a Massachusetts public college, university or community college.

Attorney Maurice Barlofsky Scholarship Fund$450
Awarded to one student with financial need for each of the four years of attendance at Boston University.

C.R. Bard Foundation, Inc./Subsidiary of Davol, Inc. Scholarship$1,000 Awarded to students who plan to pursue study in medicine or a related field.

Bartlett Community Partnership School Alumni Scholarship Fund$1,000 - $1,499 Awarded to one graduate of the Bartlett Community Partnership School - the criteria used in determining the recipients must be in priority order: need, scholarship, character, service, and participation in school activities.

Harry F. Bean Memorial Scholarship Fund$2,000
Lowell High School graduate who wishes to pursue a career in nursing and plans to obtain their degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

John J. Beaulieu Prize for Poetry*Book Award
Awarded to a student creating an outstanding work of poetry. Rules:
* No more than two, typewritten double-spaced 8 ½ x 11 pages. * Any subject matter limited only by generally accepted taste and language. * Stories remain property of author. Submitted copies remain property of LHS to be kept in library in loose-leaf books by year.

Sally Birke Memorial Scholarship Fund$500
