Nitrate Paper For Mrs. Williams 4th Period NO3- or otherwise known as Nitrate, not to be confused with Nitrite, is located in period 2 group 15. Nitrate is an element that can not be observed by any of the senses other than sight and touch because it is known to be odorless and tasteless. Nitrate starts within the earths soil but filters into water and plants when it is mixed with rain water that is either cycled back into larger bodies of water or into the plants that take the water from the soil…
Nitrate concentration comparison in the Suwannee River Basin Sara Santarelli Project summary Goals: Project Description A. Since 1971 nitrate concentrations in the Suwannee River have been increasing at a rate of 0.02 mg/L per year. The rise of nitrate concentrations found in the Suwannee River basin must be addressed. This problem is of extreme significance not only to hydrogeologists, but also anyone who cares about preserving natural Florida. Attempts to remove nitrate concentrations…
SCIENCE REPORT AMMONIUM NITRATE NH4NO3 Problem Our task was to investigate what the optimum ratio of solute to solvent that will produce the maximum cooling/heating effect? Hypothesis With a smaller quantity of water (50mls) and the same amount of Ammonium Nitrate added. After any period of time the mixture will be a cooler temperature than that of a mixture with a larger quantity of water. Variables X Water X Teaspoons X Time X Ammonium Nitrate X Thermometer X Stirring…

High levels of inequality affect an individual’s health, causing stress and fear. Social class has a big impact on one’s health and the ability for one to receive medical care. Individuals of the lower class struggle the most to receive healthcare and if they do receive healthcare it’s of lower quality. Those of the upper class receive more services and coverage because they have the money to afford the healthcare plan. The government has tried to fix this problem by offering programs like Medicare…
Puts ‘Iowa Nice’ to a Test, and Dead Zones, all share important reasons to what is happening. A huge problem that is dealing with our water is nitrates, which is a serious acid and is making our water very unhealthy. All of these articles each share important reasons to why nitrates are so bad and the effect it has on people. Some problems are, that nitrates are costing cities way too much money, the struggle it puts on farmers, and the fact it is one of the causes to eutrophication. After reading…
When you mix copper, silver, and nitrate together, you will end up with silver nitrate solution will turn blue (it has become copper nitrate). On the piece of copper, there would be a coating of solid silver. If a chemical reaction is going to be observed when chemicals are mixed, heated or any other means of altering the substance, then we will be able to predict the products formed. If it is observed that in the original versus the changed substance no new substances are formed, the change is reversible…
C did not mix well with the silver nitrate. The Iodine stayed at the bottom while the silver nitrate collected at the top. Test tube D did absolutely nothing, but get a little cloudy 5. Conclusion: The purpose of this lab was to see how silver nitrate affects the reactive Halogens and to see if it formed a precipitate. Most results were the same where a precipitate formed. Some took longer than others to form where as others had no effect to the silver nitrate. Two ways to improve the lab would…
The results for nitrate were inconclusive, there are traces of nitrate in wells 15, 20, 23, and 21 but we couldn’t find the source. We believe that number 15 is the source but there is very little amount of pollutants in the water to make the solution turn black. Wells 15, 20, 23, and 21 when tested for nitrates, the iodine changed to a yellowish blackish color. The hypothesis was not supported, well number 26 did not test positive for any of the pollutants. The first well tested was well number…
Aim The aim of the experiment was to investigate the effects of heating Lead Nitrate (Pb(NO3)2. Method About three spatulas full of Lead Nitrate was poured into a small test tube. The Bunsen burner was lit in the usual way and set to the hottest flame. Using a test tube holder the test tube was carefully positioned about five centimetres above the bases of the flame. The experiment was halted prematurely because a crack appeared around the base of the test-tube. Also, every minute or so a glowing…
