The Pardoner’s Tale relates to today’s world in more ways than one. You’d be surprised to find out that this world is run by greed and wealth by elite men in business suits. They only care about one thing and that’s the profit. Their hunger for greed is larger than that of a starving tigress in the wild. I know one day death will catch up with them like he did to the drunkards in the Pardoners Tale and like any other man in history who couldn’t control his desire for wealth and power. Greed is uncontrollable once you’ve reached a level of superior power. Almost 100% of the time greed ends up killing the person or damaging them in some way. Whether that way is prison or an infinite amount of debt, it still kills you deep down. Buddha once said “Greed is an imperfection that defiles the mind; hate is an imperfection that defiles the mind; delusion is an imperfection that defiles the mind”. Even though I don’t believe in religion this quote still sticks with me because it has a very serious meaning once you figure it out and see it with your own eyes. Greed killed the menacing dictator of Germany known as Adolf Hitler. He had all this power but once things got ugly during the war he took his own life because the United States Marines were banging on his door. Greed defiled his mind and he thought the only way out was to kill himself.
