The Goodsell microscope summarizes bureaucracy with the opinions of the public. Goodsell microscope emphasis organizational effectiveness within the bureaucracy. With the microscope Goodsell breaks down the business side, and highlights that private sector are more effective than public sectors.
As public servant, our duties align with the well-being of the people in addition to having the public interest in my mind when implementing policies and procedures. According to Goodsell, the citizen opinion of bureaucracy improves when public administration is seen up close rather than considered abstractly (Goodsell, 2015). This gives us a clear cut understanding of ways to improve to citizen opinion of the government, by keeping them inform and showing courteous in addition to trying to resolve their issues. According to Finer, he insisted that external control of administrative responsibilities can be adequately defined and met. Accountability is essential in bureaucrats because the chances of a top officials abusing their authority, can easily create a crisis for an organization. This can assist with public officials having ethical values and behaviors that align with the organizational goals and mission. According to Finer, responsible action come not from bureaucrat’s personal sense of right and wrong, but from adequate ways to correct and punish any wayward bureaucrat’s that step of line (Finer, 1941). The more we hold bureaucratic accountable, the more effective they will be in accomplishing their duties in addition to monitoring and evaluating employee
