Four Leadership Styles In Healthcare
Working at a large healthcare organization, it is important that managers are aware of the different management styles. This will help in being effective leaders. The theory I have identified is Situational Theory. Situational leadership is based on the idea that there is more than one approach to handle a situation. The four leadership styles used with this theory includes: directing, coaching, delegating and supporting.
The first style identified is directing. Directing behaviors include giving specific directions and instructions and attempting to control the behavior of group members. One example one my unit involved a worker that repeatedly called in on the weekend she was scheduled to work. The manager gave her more than one chance.

    As it name suggests, the situational leadership approach states that leaders should use different approaches as situations change. In short, leaders should be flexible, embrace change as it comes, and be capable of adapting to it.
