Federal and State Government Aid Effective with High Education

In today’s Society the cost to earn a college education has increased over the years. With the competition and job market parents are stressing the importance of college with their children. The real problem at hand is that many families cannot afford to send their children to college. This problem is not only a factor in young adults but in many adults who have tried to make it in the world. Even though this underlying factor may have been stressed at the early stages of development, many may have chosen to have ignored it and taken the easy way out. Who will aid with funding State or Federal Government? Many students consider money an issue when choosing a college. Education should be the major focus, however many have to settle for what they can afford. In often cases this will sway one’s decision towards community college, state college or prestigious University. These circumstances may not be the best answer, because this can have a negative impact on their performance on their studies. Although many consider funding a major reason in the decision, financial aid or student loans may only be temporary fixes.

The Federal and State Government are given annual budget allocation specifically to aid students with education to receive higher education in order progress in life. States differ from funding resources to distributing them to students. Although, students have the ability to receive funding from their state this will not restrict them from applying from federal funding. Both federal and states government have important roles and regulations to follow to met specific guidelines to meet the needs of the college students. The Role of the State Government

The State has the primarily responsibility to assist with education funding to include higher education. There are key factors involved with the process of budget which included the participants, and suspense (timelines). These participants must come up with significant strategies to for distribution of the resources involved. The major key players in the overall process included are the governor, the legislature, their staff and the higher education community. Depending on which state one live in will decide the method used for to grant funding.(Layzell & Lyddon, 1992, 1) Each state has established guidelines for these measures.

Acceptable financing is an important issue in the State Government role. However, the government has to take a look at the big picture and focus on other avenues that may improve or benefit our students in approaching years. The State Government has focused on actions to help with student before entrance of college such as: •Focusing on at risk student and offering an early intervention programs •High School Preparatory courses

Offering incentives upon graduation and going to college •Teaching the importance of college savings and management of finances (National Association of Independent College and Universities [NAICUSE], 2008, 2) The State Government continues to seek ways to help higher education needs such as: •Providing grants which will allow all qualified students to choose the college of their choice. •Providing the colleges with incentive grants which will aid low-income and first generation students to pursue a baccalaureate degree. •Nontraditional learners will receive assistance

Make sure that suitable measures are used to ensure that spending of state funds is fair.(NAICUSE, 2008, 2) After students have finished college the State Government has also provide practices for review and implementation as follows: •Bringing both the state and federal tax guidelines

Reviewing incentives to provide that will help assist in charitable giving •Reviewing key areas and targeting tax-free loan forgiveness (NAICUSE, 2008, 2) Although implications has been set by the state. These will benefit the state to...
