“My culture is my identity and personality. It gives me spiritual, intellectual and emotional distinction from others, and I am proud of it”. African-American culture, also known as black culture, in the United States it refers to the cultural contributions of African Americans to the culture of the United States, either as part of or distinct from American culture. The African American, and also my own culture are made up of a lot of things. In common with some and very different from others. My culture involves my school, my family tradition, food, music, clothing, and shoes.
My family, isn’t quite that big, but we work with what we have on the holidays. My family celebrates the main holiday’s such as Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Birthdays. We are being judged everyday by the people surrounding us. We are judged on our appearance, our shoes, the clothes we wear. It’s so ridiculous but that’s just they way our generation is. Food is a big part in my culture, as some people would like to say the typical “black person food” are chicken, chitlins, greens, ramen noodles. Some people say white people can’t cook chicken. Chicken is probably the most cooked food by an African American, believe when i say i love chicken but i don’t discriminate when it comes to “black’ or “white person chicken. Chicken is chicken, if you ask me. Ramen noodles are what people called “poor black people” food. They are very cheap and are very good if you are really hungry if you ask me. My family buy’s ramen noodles but we do not stack up on them, like that’s all we can afford. My mom would like to call it an after school snack until she get’s home from work and cook, just basically something to take the shakes...
