Industrial revolution
A period of major industrialization that took place during the late 1700s and early 1800s. The Industrial Revolution, beginning in Great Britain, quickly spread throughout the world. This time period saw the mechanization of agriculture and textile manufacturing and a revolution in power, and had a massive effect on social, cultural and economic conditions. The Industrial Revolution dramatically changed every aspect of human life and lifestyles.
The most prolific evidence of the Industrial Revolution’s impact on the modern world is seen in the worldwide human population growth. At the dawn of the Industrial Revolution in the mid-1700s, the world’s human population grew by about 57 percent to 700 million. In only 100 years after the onset of the Industrial Revolution, the world population would grow 100 percent to two billion people in 1927.
