Create an environmental scan for the company indicating the most significant environmental threats and discuss how the company should respond to each threat to ensure that the impact to the business is minimal.
In this environmental scan we will define specific threats and recommend how best to respond to each threat. Our goal will be achieved by incorporating an expert team to maintain a cohesive foundation to address all areas of services and functional needs to address issues that may be potentially overlooked. These members will compile data lists that encompass external as internal data shared between the environmental scan team. The information gathered will be examined for future reference for the SWOT analysis team to respond to each threat that may impact the business. These recommendations will ensure that there will be minimal impact to the xxx-Company.
The External data that will be analyzed will be derived from the following information categories: occupational, demographic, government, economic, geographic, and technology (Thompson, Strickland, & Gamble, 2009).
The most significant threat to xxx-Company’s goal would be the adverse influence from competitors not supporting the needs of others because of profit. Our goal is to offset the negative influence by reinforcing the need for equally educating all areas of the world so that the expense of funding these uneducated areas will have the means to self-support their countries.
Based on the environmental scan, evaluate the company’s strengths and evaluate how the company can leverage these strengths so as to yield a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Based on our environmental scan it has been determined that the strengths are as follows: 1) Our strength will be driven upon the fact that there is clear evidence that presently there is a growing need to educate each and every

The monitoring, evaluating, and disseminating of information from the external and internal environments is known as environmental scanning. This information goes to key people within the corporation to identify strategic factors and help determine the future of the corporation (Wheelen & Hunger). SWOT analysis is the simplest way to conduct environmental scanning. The acronym SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. These factors are important because before an organization can begin strategy formulation, it must scan the internal environment for strengths and weaknesses and their external environment to identify possible opportunities and threats (Wheelen & Hunger). In this paper I will describe the internal and external environments of Apple and Best Buy using an environmental scan. I will also determine what their competitive advantages and strategies are.…

There are internal and external elements that help a corporation determine their future. Environmental scanning monitors, evaluates, and disseminates the information from both the internal and external environments within the corporation. Environmental scanning can be conducted through a simple SWOT analysis that describes the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats as strategic factors for an organization. The internal environment of the corporation is the strengths and weaknesses variables within the organization. The external environment of the corporation is the opportunities and threats variables that are outside the organization.…

Environmental scans play a crucial role in the strategic planning process by helping organizations take a look at their competitive advantages and identify ways to sustain the advantages. Wheelen and Hunger (2010) describes environmental scanning as “the monitoring, evaluation, and dissemination of information from external and internal environments to key people within the corporation” (p. 10). Metrics or measuring tools are implemented in order to measure or track the progress of a strategic plan. Internal and external factors help an organization in the decision -making process of its future state. Internal factors surround strengths and weaknesses and external factors identify the potential threats and opportunities outside of the organization’s span of control.…

According to Wheelen & Hunger an environmental scan “is the monitoring, evaluation, and dissemination of information from the external and internal environments to key people with the corporation” (Wheelen & Hunger, 2010, p. 98). External environments are identified by the possible opportunities and threats outside the organization. Internal environments are identified by the strengths and weaknesses within the organization. In addition, successful businesses analyze the following forces that drive industry competition, threat of new entrants, rivalry among existing firms, threat of substitute products or services, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, and relative power of other stakeholders.…

The internal factor of environmental scanning consists of a company’s strengths and weaknesses. An easy way to analyze these factors is to create an Internal Factor Analysis Summary, (IFAS) table [see Exhibit 2] or VRIO framework (Value, Rareness, Imitability, and Organization). Where the internal environment deals with strengths and weaknesses, the external environment is about opportunities and threats. These factors can be analyzed using a STEEP Analysis or PESTLE Analysis [see Exhibit 3].…
