Emotive Communication Style Analysis
Everyone has unique characteristics and different communication styles and barriers that affect the way communication is received amongst friends, family, and coworkers. From personal experience, I had trouble communicating effectively amongst groups of people who were from different backgrounds or social groups, I became quieter, but amongst people I am familiar with, I became an outgoing person. Without a doubt, I was experiencing communication-style bias towards other people who communicated differently than my emotive style. Your personality is a big role in how well you interact with others. Personality affects your communication style and the way you are perceived by the people you interact with daily. Emotive personalities, generally rate high in both dominance and sociability dimensions. They have a love of people and most are labeled as extroverts. Emotive people enjoy being the center of attention and are not afraid to share their opinions. Most are often perceived to have a dominant nature and they tend to have an informal approach to handling situations. I can relate to an emotive communication style based on the fact, I talk rapidly, and express my views with enthusiasm, while using hand gestures. Emotive styles tend to have higher self-esteem within a work environment which is conducive to the overall work climate. I do not agree with all the qualities an emotive has, for example, they are labeled as social butterflies and I am quite the opposite. I am more of a reserved person until I am comfortable and then I reveal my true self. Like most people you do not always fall into one category, in a close second I identify with the reflective communication style. Reflective communication styles control their emotions and are least likely to show warmth openly and they enjoy highly structured environments. I can find different traits in each style that are relevant to

Communication style instantly changes even in family depending on the ages and relationships. For example if I am communicating with my parents or in-laws I needed to be more respectful and obedient. This communication style will apply with them in any situation. But communicating with my children requires directive, kind, caring and assertive. When it comes to my husband I am comfortable, free and at times intimates. Friends, classmate, and coworker, bosses, and instructor’s communications are more involvement in activities of academic, social, productive or quality of work, and learning mode. Emotions and environment can play a major role in communicational habits. If someone grow up in abusive environment that person’s emotion is going to give that person some abnormal communicational habits for whole life. When you are working in a team and especially if it is in a company, you need to be a good team player and to get along with all members of clients no matter whether you like or not, If you don’t communicate well they limit their ability to connect on any meaningful level and that can lead to conflict or any other trouble that can caused you to be excluded from the work field, so it is extremely important for a person to have better relationships with the colleague that you are working with, many times I have seen people fail to get along with the staffs or a supervisors and that caused them into huge a trouble or even lead to an exclusion from the post. I am very outgoing and sometimes consider myself to be very talkative, even when people tell me to be quiet I cannot help it. That is just the type of person I am. I like to be heard even if I am the only person listening to myself my brain is always running and developing new thoughts and ideas to discuss with other people. Whenever I am with my friends they are constantly telling me to be quiet because I never stop talking I just do not like it to be quiet. I feel that I am the life of the party I also do this at work with my co-workers I just like to talk I feel I have a mouth to express myself and be heard. Openness to experience I feel is another that describes me well because along with always thinking and talking I an very curious to know a little about everything. I feel that I can learn about different things forever, and that I can always learn how to do something I already know a different more efficient way. Curiosity never hurt anyone I believe the world is full of many mysteries and we must unlock and discover them to learn what they are. I also find myself building thing without the instructions not because I do not need them, but because I am curious to see if I can create what I am building without them. Even if I do not know something on a subject I will sometimes act as if I do because I want to see how gullible people are, and I also know many facts about everything so it is easy to believe me. Using agreeableness I would consider myself to be ruthless and soft-hearted why, because I tend to be easygoing and am kind to people I know, but if I do not know you I am not going to be nice to you. Do not get me wrong though even with people I know I can turn on if they give me a good cause to snap on them. People who hitch for rides I…

When working with an individual I could adapt the environment to try and improve the effectiveness of communication, for example adjusting the lighting or creating a quiet area so that we are away from noisy activity or distractions. I could also make sure that I am clearly seen by the person I am trying to communicate with so that they can observe my body language and use of eyes and facial expressions. I could also speak slower to enable the individual understand what I am saying and also allow for silences so that the individual can process the information that I have given them.…

    1. Extraversion- A person that is extraverted is someone that is outgoing and full of life. Most people like to think of extraverts as those people in a social group that love to be the center of attention or outspoken. According to Kendra Cherry, writer for About.com and psychology guide, “[e]xtraversion is characterized by sociability, talkativeness, assertiveness and excitability.” (Cherry, 2013, par1) she also explains how, “[a]ccording to researchers, extraversion is associated with leadership behavior. Since extraverts are more likely to assert themselves in groups, it makes sense that these individuals often take on leadership roles when working with other people.” (Cherry, 2013, par6). An example of how this trait may be beneficial to an individual’s performance is by helping them to communicate better with others and at the same time give off positive influences or ideas that they may benefit those around them.…
