Counting By 7s Book Report
The two books I read over the summer were Counting By 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan and The Maze Runner by James Dashner. The first book, Counting By 7s takes place in Bakersfield, California, and is about twelve year old Willow Chance who enjoys gardening, diagnosing medical conditions and the number seven. The story is about her journey through life after her parents died in a tragic car accident. Prior to the car accident Willow has to see Dell Duke, a student counselor, after being accused to cheater on a test because of her perfect score. During her counseling she meets Mai, and Quang-ha, who she lives with after the accident. Their house is a garage behind the nail salon that their mother, Pattie owns. Later on in the book Willow meets Jairo Hernandez, a taxi driver, who adventually gains …show more content…
The only thing the boys can remember are there names, due to there memories being whipped. even though Thomas has never been to this place it feels very familiar to him. The Glade is surrounded by a maze full with creatures called Grievers and Beetle Blades, The boys say there are spy for the creators, the ones who sent them to this place. After Newt gave him a tour and explained that everyday the “Runners” go out into the maze looking for the way out, Thomas knew that what he needed to do so he was trained by Minho. One day a girl named Teresa was sent there, Thomas had some type of connect with her. after she arrived weird things started happening, and the “end” was coming so they worked together along with the other Gladers to find the code and escape the maze due to his memories returning after the changing. There was a plethora of figurative language in these books, The first example is from Counting by 7s when Willow and Pattie and doing Dells laundry “It takes us three trips to haul the mountain down to the laundry room”. This is hyperbole because they weren’t actually crying a mountain to the laundry

Missing, written by Catherine MacPhail is about a girl named Maxine who looks for her brother, Derek who was believed to be dead after his disappearance. The time is in the middle of spring because most of the characters seem more active than chilly or sleepy. The cemetery is described as windy and warm, and the school is putting in tsunamis of homework each day. Most of these settings seem off but they do support the time. There is an arcade kind of like Station 300, the cemetery, the house, and the school.…

Loving someone like Emma loves Rodolphe, the love that consumes you, and then knowing that they do not feel the same way and pretending that they do is hard to come to terms with. In The Maze Runner by James Dashner main character's name is Thomas. Thomas is very close to a girl named Teresa who he has known for as long as he can remember. When he is first put in the maze he knows no one and can not even remember his own name. But a girl, the first girl, enters into the maze she immediately recognizes Thomas. The two become very close friends and at one point the readers believe they could have been more than friends. Toward the end of the series Thomas learns that Teresa has been working with the company called Wicked, which is the company that put them in the maze. Thomas felt betrayed like Emma when she learned the why Rodolphe wanted to have an affair with her. I like the book called The Meteor because when she was little and she was trying to read a big meteor came down from the sky and hit the ground. It hit so hard in the ground that it moved the house side to side. When her grandma pasted away they used the meteor as a grave for the grandma. Then she goes to schools with a piece of the meteor and said, “If you touch the meteor your wish will come true.” Because the family believed that if you touch the meteor your wish will come true.…

The book that I chose to do is Street Pharm by Allison van Diepen, the book has 297 pages, the reason I chose this book is personally I am tired novels taking place years before I am born. This novel pertains to urban problems and one kids' attempt to survive in the pressures of present day Brooklyn. Within the novel, there are several subplots, one being his love interest, Alyse, and Ty's fight to stay in school. As well as, his fight not to lose money or control of his territory. It is interesting to watch this young man, balance these things in his life and not let them interfere with each other.…

'Z for Zachariah' is about a sixteen-year-old girl, called Ann Burden ,who is a nurturing, kind and loving girl thinks she is the only person to survive a nuclear war and Mr Loomis who is at first kind then eventually turning to cold, distant and bitter. The author has very cleverly made the names of the characters correspond to their personality. Ann Burden, lifting the burden of the Valley, Loomis who is looming, mysterious and sinister.…
