Characters And Mortals In Homer's Odyssey
I cannot believe such puny mortals could have done something like this to me. They have taken my best livestock, blinded me, and tricked me into a complete fool. Of course, I knew that something like this would happen eventually. It was foretold.

I first met the mortals in my cave after taking my sheep to a nearby pasture for their daily grazing. It took me a some time to realize that they were there. I had finished the chores in my cave, and was prodding at the fire when I saw them.

“Who are you, strangers? Where do you come from? Are you wanderers or are you pirates?”

As I asked them, I noticed a trace of fear on their faces. They were men I have never seen before, and so I was confused as to why they were in my cave. Then, the one who

That wave he created almost beached us!”

This told me that the rock I threw was aimed well. I heard various other crew members warn Nohbdy not to continue tempting me. He ignored them and yelled at me:

“Cyclops, if any mortal man ever wonder how you were made a fool and lost your eye, then you will tell him that Odysseus, raider of cities, did it. I am Laertes’ son, and I live on Ithaca!”

Then, everything made sense to me. This was the man from the prophecy. Still enduring great pain and anger, I said to him:

Come back, and I will treat you well, hoping that that god of earthquake will forgive you for what you have done to his son. He will heal me of this blinding wound.”

Odysseus said back to me:

“If I could, I would instead kill you and throw you down into the Underworld, where the god of earthquake could not heal you.”

With my blindness, I put my hands toward the sky and

Now we waited… until the sun would arise (which meant that our kingdom would be safe for another 52 years). We waited but hour after hour the crowds got more worried as they eagerly awaited our salvation. The worst prediction had come true and the sun never arose, only to be replaced with dull clouds and rain. That was it… it had meant the end of the world for our people. However I would not lose hope in our gods and proclaimed to the people that the gods where satisfied. I lied, but only to protect our…

As I was walking down the dark, concealed hallway I began to hear footsteps. As the footsteps grew closer, I began to grow worrisome. “Hello?” I softly spoke. “Hello,” I spoke again just a little louder. Nothing. I stood there for what felt like minutes pondering. Then suddenly, a soft snicker came from behind me. “Fortunato!” I yelled as I looked at him standing there with a sly smirk on his dirty face. “Montresor,” he replied “I see you are looking for me?” he remarked. “Oh, yes, yes I am, you must have gotten lost, let us go get our wine and forget all this,” I said thinking of a way to explain,”it was only a harmless joke!” I said as I slightly laughed. “Ha! Ha,” he erupted in laughter, “I think not!” he said as he launched towards me. In that moment as I tried to fight back, I knew I had lost. As everything was about to go black, I heard a soft voice in the distance “tu as perdu.” Then it went…

Odysseus and Aeneas both irritate some Olympian Gods; however, their responses are different. Poseidon is annoyed by Odysseus’ action of blinding Cyclope’s eye, so he sends a storm to destroy the fleet of Odysseus. After realizing that all his men are killed by Poseidon, Odysseus does not curse the god, for he knows that the reason is his arrogance. In the end, with the assistance of Athena, he pacifies Poseidon by preaching the sea god’s ritual without hesitation. As for Aeneas, Juno vents the anger toward Paris to him. Because of the successive…

So I tried to go back to sleep that night, and I encountered them again hearing the beating of the ceremonial drums and them chanting by my house. I got really scared because of all the stories that Ive heard about the night marchers and creped by the see through window. I couldn’t see anything or anyone outside but all I could hear was voices. I started getting afraid and didn’t know what to do. After several times of trying to fall asleep, I started to see visions or scary thoughts. I could see scary ugly faces in the dark with fierce red eyes staring at me. My heart began to pound and I felt like they were coming after me. It almost sounded like their drums were beating the same time as my heart. The sounds felt like they were getting closer and closer and ready to attack me. Their unrest souls were coming back to avenge their death. I could feel their warm whispering voices as if they were right by my right shoulder blade and I could feel the hair on the back of my neck lifting as if they were trying to communicate with me. Nothing was going right and I felt like I was losing my mind. Tears of sweat were dripping down my face because I couldn’t put together what was happening to me. “Why me? Why do I have to witness these…
