Case Study Of Disorderly Patient In E. D.
On Monday 11/14/2016 at about 0542 hours, Security Staff was dispatched to the Emergency Department room #28 for a (51D) Disorderly Patient in E.D. Upon arrival, Security staff met with E.D. Nurse Marilyn Latimosa , who informed us that the Eliezer SotoRivera (DOB: 11/28/82; Fin #86447290) had been Baker Acted by an E.R. Doctor and Security presence was required to speak while nursing staff spoke to the patient and had him changed clothes. Security Officers Christopher Paz, Ariel Weiland and Steven Evans walked in to the room accompanied by Nurse Latimosa and I, Steven Evans explained to him,, the Baker Act process and the limitations that it entails. I asked him kindly to hand over his belongings and to change in to a Baker Act blue scrubs.
The patient did not fuss and agreed to cooperate, he surrendered all his possessions without any incident. At 0555 hours, patient SotoRivera remained calm and compliant with nursing staff at which time we cleared from the service call. No hands on were required for this incident and the final call disposition was changed to a (51S) Patient Standby in E.D. nothing further.
