Camping
Duckett Pg. 1

Being in nature is the best place to be on earth. If you go or have been camping you know what this means. Being in the outdoors opens your mind to new things. Their's a lot that can be learned in nature, if people took the time for it. Nature and camping offer things that the regular day can't. They're many things that camping can do for the mind and body. Planning a camping trip is difficult, but is very rewarding. First you need to figure put where you want to go, hopefully somewhere new. Secondly you need to know how long to stay and the materials you need to bring. Then you need to plan your trip and events once you arrive at the campground. The last thing is to enjoy every bit of your family and friends. Being in the outdoors camping is one of the greatest feelings there is. Their's nothing better than the smell of a campground. You have all kinds of different food cooking over a camp fire. Campgrounds have their own unique smell that nowhere else has. Camping is enjoyable for many different reasons. To me there are two parts of camping- relaxing and recreation. Both are equal in their own importance. On the relaxing side you have the scenery of everything, the sight of all the wildlife, and the sound of the nighttime bugs. All of this is relaxing, but theirs much more. Enjoying the nice weather when it's warm in the day and cool at night. Sitting around a warm campfire is relaxing. Watching kids play and have fun is enjoyable. Going camping can be for two days or for

two weeks. It could be across country or 20 miles away. For me camping is relaxing, fun, entertaining, and enjoyable. The recreation side of camping is where you have your fun. I normally love going swimming when the temperature of the water is perfect. Going floating down a river in a tube is fun. Other things to enjoy are: boating, going fishing, hiking, checking out the eye-candy, skipping

This is significant because despite being out in the woods, one has access to things such as running water and its many useful applications. For example, the running water can be used to do chores such as wash the dishes, provide a way to acquire clean water for food preparation, and even allows one to take a cold shower under certain circumstances. As a result, the camping experience can be tackled with the hygienic cleanliness usually left at less modernly accommodating campsites. This results in a pleasing camping experience where you are able to utilize the conventions of a sink in the wilderness, moreover this also includes clean facilities in case some would rather not rough it out in the woods when it comes time for nature to take its…

The campsites given to campers are typically very small rocky areas surrounded by small mesquite trees. Most campsites provide water that is available for use ,but should not be drank, as well as a small fire ring for campfires. The park does not provide firewood and thus campers must search for their own on the grounds throughout the park. It is also home to many cedar trees so those of us with allergies need to be sure to bring some medicine so our communion with nature doesn’t become a case of the sniffles.…

From personal experience, it is not an easy thing to do especially during winter. My longest campout was 14 hours in Los Angeles for Bape’s grand opening. At that time Bape was one of the biggest names in street wear and the only other Bape store in the country was in New York, so this was a big deal. The whole line of people looked like a painter’s palette. An hour before the store opened there were over a hundred people in line with chairs, umbrellas, and ice chests. The worst part about that trip is that there is no shop or restaurants open before 12pm and it made using the restroom extremely hard. This is an extreme though, there are anywhere between 5 to 50 people sleeping in front of a store in LA depending on the release. Now there is never that many people camping out here at our local spot. The most people I have seen are about 10 people. Camping out during the winter here also isn’t that great. Usually sneakers release on Saturday mornings and everybody camps Friday night, which also happens to be when they power wash River Park where the shop is located. The manager of the store even ordered us a couple pizzas a night we were there. One good thing about campouts are that you get to meet a lot of people who have at least one thing in common and you might build a friendship with the owners and workers of the store or even people you meet in line. I have met a lot of people who I am now friends with because of campouts. You are almost forced to make conversations with people you’ll be with them for hours. So you actually get something out of campouts besides whatever you are there to buy. Some people leave empty handed, but others leave with the best…

Due to socially constructed gender roles, women are expected to care for others then themselves. Pursuing leisure or adventure recreation can be overwhelming due to the masculine expectations that society has places on recreational activities such as rafting, backpacking and climbing. These pursuits should be based on a woman's passion for the outdoors or desire to explore and not merely for wanting to be one of the guys (Wroblewski 5). The wilderness can offer a sense of belonging, community, and physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and personal growth that all deserve to enjoy (Wroblewski…

Through my own experience as an avid outdoorsman, I find that Nature has many enjoyable activities to offer. Some of my friends like to go canoeing and some enjoy swimming in lakes, I find that my favorite outdoor sports are rock climbing, fly fishing and deer hunting. From the sweet smell of maple sap to all the little chirps, whistles and squeaks, I find myself completely relaxed when I am outside. It seems too often that the daily hustle and bustle of everyday work and school can leave a person stressed.
