1.1. Describe the goals and objectives of your organisation

Goals set out what the organization wants to achieve, where it want to be – i.e. the vision

Medium and shorter term objectives are the specific means by which the organization will achieve its goals. These are supported by key actions/deliverables to achieve the objectives, which in turn contribute to meeting the overall goals. The organization measures success in achieving both its objectives by identifying measurable and relevant key performance indicators to indicate progress.

The overall longer term goal of xxxx Council is to improve quality of life across the Borough, through effective leadership and a strong focus on the economic, social and cultural wellbeing of all our citizens

The medium term corporate priorities/goals to be delivered from 2009 to present for the Council has include:


These medium term strategic priorities/ goals are underpinned by a range of key objectives, specific actions/deliverables and measurable indicators, too numerous to list in this paper. In the first priority/goal, there are for example, 6 key objectives and 14 deliverable actions, see table below. Deliverable actions are in essence the service strategies and business plans, which in turn have their own specific aims, objectives, outputs and outcomes.

Encourage and promote a culture of inclusiveness and belonging for everyone in the Borough Implement Council’s Community Support Plan
Implement Council’s Good Relations Strategy
Act as Lead Council for the North East Peace III Partnership to deliver the Peace III Action Plan to build positive relations at local level Develop an effective mechanism to effect meaningful consultation with the wider community Develop strategic responses to shared space, communities and services

Support the development of our community through joint working with other agencies Facilitate delivery in partnership with DSD, statutory agencies and community stakeholders’ action plans for the neighborhood renewal and other relevant programmes Encourage the participation of the public in the delivery of policing through the Coleraine District Policy Partnership (DPP)

Increase participation of people in their local community to effect change Develop relationships with the community and voluntary sector and other key community stakeholder groups Reduce visible manifestations of sectarianism and racism

Develop the capacity of community and voluntary partners to improve community relations and cultural diversity in the Borough

Resource the local community

Target grant programmes for the community and voluntary sector securing a resourced and sustainable community Provide resources for the delivery of advice services
Provide community development facilities through our community centres and town halls

Work with key partners to enhance and promote community safety in the Borough

Review and establish new structures for delivery of the Community Safety Plan for the Coleraine area in partnership with the NI Community Safety Unit and local stakeholders
