Anxiety in high-functioning children with autism was written by three authors, Alinda Gillott, Fred Furniss, Ann Walter D, The author's main purpose was to compare traits of so called “normal” children against children that have been tested and labeled high functioning autistic. The groups were matched for both gender and age. The main research of this paper dealt with Anxiety levels of normal children, opposed to the anxiety levels of those children with autism, The article also linked a comparison with social worries against a the group of normal children with the Autistic children, they correlated the study with Specific language impairment. Researchers have also noted a \ difficulty in regards to the introspecting ability in children with autism, that affects their ability to self-report the study relied heavily on this measure.
The implications derived from this experiment for anxiety and could be put into perspective to a normal person, teacher can have a broader understanding of what triggers autistic behaviors, in social stress and stress anxiety. This can be met with the correct measures to reduce friction of the student's functional ability. In addition to their own journal to appease the collection of accurate data. Although the outcome of the thesis was known before the test was conducted, it would have served the next group of researchers better if they had a more controlled collection of data that more accurately shows both points of view concerning the autistic children. In conclusion I do admire the effort to secure anxiety as a chronic trait of high functioning autism, this helps us gauge the level of anxiety between autistic children and normal children. Hopefully further research will be awarded in order to pinpoint moments of anxiety in the autistic child's life and deem ways to remedy certain situations so that social awkwardness can be less of a

    The study was well done and followed good documentation procedures and the results showed that “all three participants not only mastered the skill, but demonstrated generalization to novel people, settings and exemplars.” (Persicke, Tarbox, Ranick & St. Clair, 2013, p.197) However after working with several students in the class situation and helping some others in a group home environment, I have to pause and wonder about its importance in the much wider field of all autistic individuals with their very varied abilities. As others have mentioned the study sample was very small and I noted the selection process additionally required completion or near completion of the Skills curriculum. Would the study have shown the same results over a larger sampling and a less defined choice of individuals? The authors in their discussion area indicate as well the limitation, that other forms of deception were not used.
