Abortion Essay

Abortion Essay Abortion has always been a sensitive topic because it deals with the life of an unborn human being. There are always the same two sides in this argument too, which include pro-choice and pro-life. Life is a precious thing to all of us. We are simply born into this world, live out our life, and then die and are eventually forgotten. However, the events that lead up to these unborn human beings can change our decision on whether we are either pro-choice or pro-life. It also changes depending if the person is actually carrying the child or not. Family and friends can also be a huge influence on each other’s views. Pro-choice groups say that everyone has a choice to go ahead with the abortion. The reason for this is because they are in control of the unborn child. The problem with this is that an abortion is not just a simple and quick act to get rid of a child. An abortion can cause both physical and even post-traumatic mental pain. The surgery involved with getting an abortion can cause the woman very severe abdominal pain and even put her own life at risk just because she wants to get rid of another life. The haunting memory of killing an unborn child can also be a huge stress on a woman and even on the people around her. Just because someone does not want to take care of a child that they are carrying does not give them the right to just end that child’s life before it even starts. If anything, they should have the child and then put the child up for adoption. Pro-life groups believe that abortions are a terrible procedure and should even be illegal. They think that there is no reason to end a life. Not only that, but abortions put both lives in danger during the procedures. Another reason is that the child could grow up to be a very important person and even change the world. For all we know, the unborn child could have been the next Neil Armstrong or Beethoven! However, there is one good reason to why someone

Imagine a young child at the playground, slipping down a slide, swinging on the monkey bars, and laughing with glee. When a mother decides to get an abortion, that entire image goes away with a blink of an eye. What that mother might not know is her child might be the next person to cure cancer or be the greatest movie star of all time. The public is divided on this issue and they do not know if one should be pro-life or pro-choice. People that believe in pro-choice think the decision should be up to the mother. It is the mother’s body and she should have the right to decide what happens to it. However, every life matters and the child should not be in the cross fire of the mother’s decision. Abortion violates the child’s right to live and…

There are many arguments against abortion claiming how unethical it is. Three of those arguments are the following: First, it has been proven that embryos bond to their mother during the first trimester or early in the second trimester (Fletcher pg.3). Second, a mother that has terminated her pregnancy early on has not had adequate time to think about her decision (American Life League 136). Finally, not only is the mother killing that one person, but she is also killing every other human being that would have existed due to that baby being born. (Ronald Reagan Speech-1983) When a person has this point of view towards abortion there is only one option, not having an abortion. Pro-lifer's feel abortion is morally wrong, and that is equivalent to the murder of a living, breathing human…

There are many reasons why women have abortions. An unwanted pregnancy, inability to support a child, birth control failure, to prevent birth defects, end pregnancy due to rape, and to prevent physical or mental harm to the mother are just a few. Many women who are pro choice argue that it is their body and their choice. Needless to say,…

I am aware that this may be an uncomfortable topic for most people, you could even say a down right hostel conversation to have if you don’t share the same views. I have met people who are either pro-choice or pro-life and while neither group are bad people, I’ve found that neither group is fully informed of the others views and facts. I feel that pro-life is the best decision to make although I do understand the pro-choice position. My feelings and thoughts come from a very personal story. My own mother could have very well made the pro-choice decision and aborted me. It would have really made since to, being that her and my father had broken up, she already had two other children, and she was ten years my father’s elder. I can’t say that if some women had been in that situation they would have made the same choice. With those kinds of conditions the odds were stacked against me. But as you can see she believed that pro-life was the only way for her to go. I asked her when I became an adult why she made that decision, although I thought I already knew what her answer would be (religion), she surprised me by saying that she couldn’t kill an innocent person because of the choices she made. Those made me really want to dig into this subject because up until then I would have said that I was pro-choice. As simple as that story may sound, it helped me shape my views on the pro-life/pro-choice debate. The other things that helped were some facts. I would like to share some with you. The basic argument is Pro-choice believes abortion is a right that should not be limited by the government or religious authority, and that pregnant women will resort to unsafe abortions if there are no other options. While Pro-life believes that life starts at conception, therefore abortion is immoral killing of innocent human beings and it is unfair to allow abortions when couples who cannot biologically conceive are waiting to adopt. On the…

To start, pro-life advocates base their arguments off many factors, one being that babies are viable lives and have rights from the time of conception. As discussed earlier, the embryo, which is an organism in the earliest development stage, contains DNA in its chromosomes when it is concepted. By the fifth week of pregnancy, the embryo is rapidly growing and has now started to develop major organs, such as the heart and brain (Mayo Clinic Staff, par. 11). According to Baby Med, viability of pregnancy is based on the presence of a fetal heart beat, normally rising hCG levels, and the fact that the fetus is alive inside the womb. Baby Med also states that, typically, a hospital considers the 24th week of pregnancy to be the age of viability outside of the womb, though it is known for babies born younger than that to survive (“What Does …”, pars. 2-3). Despite the time mark that a baby can survive outside the womb, all unborn lives should be considered “viable” because as they age, the better chance they have at surviving outside the womb. Most unborn babies develop normally and will eventually develop into a healthy, viable child. Another key argument for the side of pro-life is the availability of alternative options for mothers pregnant with children they do not wish to raise. Adoption is a leading alternative for abortion. Adoption is a great option for mothers who do not want to raise their…

There are many differences between a “pro- choice” position on abortion and a “pro- life” position. People who are “pro- choice”, then they believe that it is the woman’s decision if she wants to have a child and carry it for nine months. If someone is “pro- life”, then they are against anyone getting an abortion. They believe that the fetus has the same rights as a human being. The argument the “pro- life” people strongly believe is that every undeveloped human is sacred and must be protected by the government. The “pro- choice” people argue that when a humans personhood cannot be proven in pregnancies, then the government does not have the right to prevent a woman her right to decide whether or not she wants to continue with the pregnancy.…

Abortion is the termination of an unborn baby’s life, while in its mother’s womb. This could be done at different times of pregnancy, from the day after conception, to the day that the baby is expected. Whether they are the same or not is argued about by opposing stances on the subject. There are two opposite stances on abortion. These stances are pro-choice and pro-life. Pro-choice supporters think of abortion as neither good or bad, but as a choice. They believe that abortion is a useful tool to make life easier for mothers who do not want their children. The choice to have an abortion is usually based on egoism, which is doing what is best for one’s self. People who are pro-choice believe that an unborn baby is not really alive at all, and…

Then there are those who believe women should have the right to abort or carry a child to term are Pro-Choice. They believe the mother has the right to choose if the fetus is a living being according to the circumstances in her life. I feel that if a female is sexually active, at this point in her life she should know the potential end result of not protecting herself. Too many women become pregnant and choose to have abortions based on how the child may impact their lives. The fear of facing financial problems, having to deal with relationship issues or just not wanting to be a single mother has been a few of the reasons given for making this choice. I feel these reasons are wrong, as I stated earlier, from my perspective abortion is like murder. We are killing innocent children who do not get a chance to experience life, based on someone else’s choice. Women who engage in unprotected sex knowing they may become pregnant and decide abortion is the answer are not accepting the responsibility of their actions. By having an abortion, we are denying the mother the opportunity to raise the baby and usually this ends up hurting her emotionally at some point in her life.…

There are two different viewpoints on abortion. Pro-choice and pro-life. Let’s start with the easy one. Pro-life means that a person is completely against abortion. The pro-life viewpoint is the belief that abortion is considered taking the life a human, which would mean that life begins at conception. People may have this viewpoint for religious values, or even their personal moral values, and believe that abortion for anyone is wrong. Pro-choice is a little bit harder to describe. It doesn’t mean pro-abortion, it literally concerns the word choice. People that are pro-choice believe that it is a person’s personal decision as to whether or not they get an abortion. Somebody may be completely against abortion personally, but may still be pro-choice because they believe that it is a person’s decision and that right should not be…

The process of abortion involves terminating a pregnancy by the removing or expelling of a foetus or embryo from the uterus. A lot of women give reasons like being raped, incest, financial difficulty and a controversial one is if the child has a disability or defect. However the fact remains that abortion is a very controversial topic because its frequency of occurrence around the world, legal consequences, and its cultural and religious status varies extensively in different regions of the world especially in Africa and the United States of America. There are many high-profile groups that champion either pro-choice or pro-life and this is well documented between Democrats and Republicans. Such organizations bring up a host of issues to further their agenda. In the United States, pro-life groups favour greater legal restrictions on abortion, or even the complete criminalization of it. Their argument is that a human foetus is a human being with a right to live, and so abortion is equal to murder. In contrast, pro-choice groups argue that a woman has certain reproductive rights, especially the choice on whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term.…

People who choose to have abortions done, most of them probably do not know how it is done, or they just do not care due to their own selfishness and ignorance. There are different excuses that they use for having abortions. People who are pro-choice think that a person or mother has the right to do as she chooses with her own body (Being Pro-Choice). They believe that an embryo is not a human and has no rights of their own. Pro-choice campaigners argue that the surgical procedure is completely safe and harmless (Lowen). This is false. Choosing to have an abortion is putting a woman’s body at risk. A mother can have serious complications that can affect their health and their future pregnancies, if able to be pregnant again…
