Strategies for Gathering Information
Fill in the following information for each of your sources:

List the APA reference citation for the source.
Determine the credibility of the source. Consider the following criteria:

What is the purpose and affiliation of the organization or author related to the article?
What are the author’s credentials?
Is the information current? When was the information last updated?
Does the information cross-reference with other sources?
Does the source contain bias without evidence to support the claim?

Explain in at least two to four sentences what information you can gather from this source.

Source (formatted consistent with APA guidelines)
What makes the source credible or noncredible?
What information can you gather from this source? gun control. (2013). In Encyclopædia Britannica. Retrieved from http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/683775/gun-control

This information is credible because it comes from an encyclopedia. Information contained in these types of media are fact and solid.
This article has a lot of information about what exactly gun control is. I think that this would be a good place to start with my introduction to get people familiar with what gun control is.

Knox, J. (2013). Gun control hurts people. Retrieved from http://www.wnd.com/2013/10/gun-control-hurts-people/

I like this article because the author uses information that can be verified with more research. It has firsthand accounts of people who could have been kept safe if they were allowed to have a gun.
This is one of the sources that I am going to use to show how gun control could be more harmful. I am going to go more research on one of the firsthand accounts.

M, M. (2013). 10 arguments for gun control. Retrieved from http://listverse.com/2013/04/21/10-arguments-for-gun-control/

I really like this article because it gives reasons as to why gun control is good, but the reasons are supported by good evidence, even though I may not completely agree with the views.
I am going to use some of the points people are for gun control. I am going to have to make sure that I do not slip any of my bias into this paragraph. I am against gun control and find arguments around some of the reasons.

Gun control 5 reasons why it wont work. (2013). Retrieved from http://www.theclause.org/2013/02/gun-control-five-reasons-why-it-wont-work/

This is not one of the best articles that I found. There is no author so I am unable to cross reference their name is other articles or information. The information that was in the writing is sound and can be backed up by other sources
I am not sure if I will use this reference or look for something a little better. I may just use this as a reference and refer back to it when looking for solutions.

(2013). Gun control. Retrieved from http://www.wvablue.com/tag/assault%20weapons%20ban

This is a blog type article. It is written with personal opinions however, almost all of the facts are true and can be backed up with more research.
I most likely will not use this source but I may pull information from it to get ideas on where I could go with my paper.

Did the 1994 assualt weapons ban work. (2013). Retrieved from http://www.factcheck.org/2013/02/did-the-1994-assault-weapons-ban-work/

These last two sources are some that I found to back up the information from the blog above.

DeFrank, P. (2013). was the last assult weapons ban effective. Retrieved from http://Did the 1994 assualt weapons ban work. (2013). Retrieved from http://www.factcheck.org/2013/02/did-the-1994-assault-weapons-ban-work/

Gun Control Gun control has been a major issue in the past few years, and many journalists have written columns and essays in newspapers that are expressing their opinions on the subject. Nicholas Kristof, whom has been writing for newspapers for over ten years, took it upon himself to write Our Blind Spot about Guns for the New York Times in 2014. In his essay, Nicholas argued that if we set laws and regulations on guns the same way that we have done to cars, the amount of deaths caused by guns would decrease dramatically. He uses various statistics and discusses multiple ways that regulations and laws have decreased the amount of deaths caused by cars, and he relates it back to guns in his very well written essay. Nicholas seems to be addressing politicians in his essay, but his overall audience are those who are reading the newspaper.…

In the article there were discussions on gun control that I really just did not agree on for example, I do feel that gun control does stop some crimes but that it is so easy for an individual to obtain a weapon to that it really just not feel as if the world is a safer place to live in now that everyone is caring a weapon. I felt safer when only law officials were caring the weapons. I have always understood that people want to have the right to protect their families but I feel that it has gotten way beyond that. Protecting our families is not an issue the issue is weapons and the amount of weapons available and more and more guns are being not only sold but there are exchanging hands everyday, and this is a problem in where everyone thinks that gun-control laws are needed. With that being said I still do not agree…

The Article (“We Need More Gun Control, Whether You Know It Or Not”) is an pro-gun article that explains how most americans think you need a background check and go through all these test to be able to buy a gun, “but such laws don't exist”. First thing that concerns me with this article is the how he acquired the stats and comments he obtained. Most of them are only from a small group consensus and was not open up to the public to thus meaning that it is only one sided and not taking an opinion from others sides of this topic. The second bit of information that was about this article was that he has no ethos and have no real credited sources of his information.…

    Gun Control Is Bad Essay

Gun Control is when you keep firearms of any type, including handguns, High power rifles and even low caliber hunting rifles such as a .22 long rifle away from people. Many people think that gun control is the right way to go because they think keeping guns away from people will lower the death rate of people by guns. Also, just whenever people hear the word gun, the thoughts of violence and negativity pop into the heads of many people, myself included, think gun control is wrong because we know that it is not necessary, since we know that guns were not involved in a large percentage of deaths caused each year. While many other people disagree and think that a law will keep guns out of people's hands and keep them safer. All laws do is keep…
